Brandeis University seeks to hire an Instructional Technologist who will be part of newly expanded Center for Teaching and Learning (CTL). This is an exciting opportunity to join a team of colleagues providing learning design and instructional technology support on campus. The anticipated start date for this position is early-mid August 2022.
Summary: The Instructional Technologist provides course consultation and faculty training on instructional technologies to faculty who teach in departments and schools across campus. The Instructional Technologist advises faculty on instructional technology evaluation/implementation; and assists faculty with course improvements, modifications, and adoption/implementation of new instructional technologies and learning management system (Moodle) functions. This position is part of the Center for Teaching and Learning in the Library and reports to the CTL Program Director; the CTL is led by a Faculty Director.

The hiring range for this position is $65,100 – $70,900.
This is a union position. Employees working in this position are covered by the collective bargaining agreement between the University and Service Employees International Union (SEIU) Local 888. Provisions related to wages, benefits and other terms of employment are contained in the agreement.
The Instructional Technologist position will be a hybrid schedule, with some on-site work required each week. It is expected to continue with this schedule through 2022 and the hybrid schedule will be considered beyond 2022.
Responsibilities:
- Assist faculty and colleagues with the development of resources for online and hybrid courses following evidence-based best practices. Resources may include graphics, presentations, interactive modules, and multimedia elements using learning management system (LMS) functions and additional supported instructional technologies (40%)
- Provide instructional technology consultation, guidance, and support to faculty as they consider course improvements, modifications, and adoption/implementation of LMS functions and additional instructional technologies. (30%)
- Provide consultation and assistance to faculty as they update their LMS course homepages with a focus on accessibility guidelines and elements that support teaching best practices. (20%)
Collaboration (10%)
- Attend staff meetings within the CTL and with campus partners to provide updates on instructional design and eLearning projects to internal and external stakeholders
- Collaborate on strategic projects as needed.
- Contribute to internal and external efforts to raise awareness of online and digital teaching and learning.
Requirements
- Education: Master’s degree or equivalent combination of experience and education; preferred master’s degrees in Education, Computer Science, Instructional Design, Educational Media, Educational Technology, etc.
- Experience: 1-3 years of related work experience
Additional Requirements:
- Technical knowledge of at least one online Learning Management System (LMS), such as Moodle, Blackboard, Canvas, or Desire2Learn.
- Ability to learn new technologies quickly and follow documentation.
- Ability to create documentation, tutorials, instructional videos, and materials to guide faculty use of technologies for teaching and learning.
- Understanding of how to tie learning objectives with instructional content.
- Ability to work independently and/or with multiple constituencies.
- Flexibility and willingness to collaborate.
- Service-oriented approach and consultative skills to identify and implement instructional technology solutions.
- Knowledge of or willingness to learn about accessibility standards.
- Commitment to contributing to the Library’s work in developing an environment that is inclusive and supportive of diversity.
Preferred:
- Knowledge of Learning Tools Interoperability (LTI) specification and application integration within the LMS.
- Experience with Moodle LMS.
