    Job Summary and Responsibilities

    Key aspects of the instructional designer position are to understand our clients’ performance improvement needs, design effective training solutions within project budgets, lead the development team, and ensure the overall project quality and success.

    The successful candidate will collaborate with GP Strategies team members, client sponsors, and subject matter experts (SMEs) to:

    • Analyze instructional needs, define the course requirements, manage the project through the development process, and ensure instructional integrity.
    • Collaborate to develop project goals, training objectives and measurements by analyzing needs and proposing multiple solutions.
    • Apply instructional design techniques and methodologies to design interactive courseware and other supporting materials to ensure an effective learning experience.
    • Draft a design document to include: Audience and learning environment analysis, Instructional goals and strategy, Content outline, User navigation, Screen/page template designs, Storyboard/script development with text, voice, sound, and graphics descriptions and instructions to production team, Prototype development, Measuring results
    • Write course design documents, learning objectives, course content, scenarios, media scripts, practice activities, and posttests.
    • Manage projects efficiently so that tasks are completed on time and problems are anticipated or resolved quickly.
    • Use rapid development content tools (Captivate, Articulate, Lectora etc.) to create online courseware.
    • Create print deliverables.

    Qualifications

    • Solid understanding of instructional design as well as excellent organization, communication, and interpersonal skills.
    • Must display original thinking and creativity and excel at meeting challenges with resourcefulness and innovative ideas.
    • Bachelor’s degree in Instructional Systems Design or similar degree (i.e. Instructional Design, Instructional Technology, etc.) required.

    General Physical Requirements

    • Light work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise, move objects. Light work involves sitting most of the time.
    • Reaching, sitting, driving, standing, stooping, lifting, walking, typing, grasping, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions.
    • Close visual acuity to prepare and analyze data, view computer monitor, and read.
    • Requires visual acuity to view presentation screens and other visual aids in a classroom or other client setting.
    • Visual acuity to operate a motor vehicle.
    • Both indoor and outdoor environmental conditions.
