The Station Strategy and Development department is looking to hire an Instructional Designer. The person in this role is tasked with creating and managing eLearning curriculum development that supplements Immersive Learning workforce development programs. This role will manage the creation of necessary eLearning curriculum and review the work of subject matter expert authors and author material when appropriate. This position will collaborate with other PBS staff and public media experts to produce said content. PBS’s Immersive Learning team offers Professional Development opportunities, including the YoPro Initiative and Executive Leadership Program to PBS member station staff to develop the PBS workforce, prepare staff for future growth opportunities, and expand station capabilities across all functional areas.
Key responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Collaborate with the PBS Partners to design and deploy eLearning curriculum to supplement Immersive Learning workforce development needs
- Participate on and collaborate with Immersive Learning Station Advisory Group to identify topics and subject matter experts for curriculum development
- Coordinate and manage curriculum development processes, including: project schedules, deliverables, meetings (with relevant stakeholders), etc.
- Maintain management of and ingestion of course content into Canvas Learning Management System
- Provide regular project updates for Station Services and Immersive Learning staff
- Keep accurate record of Project activities and assist in developing reports for grant purposes
- Promote an environment of collaboration and inclusion, ensuring programs and projects are represented by a diverse group of voices
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements for success:
- Bachelor’s degree in communications, education (specific fields related to instructional design), or equivalent field, combined with at least 2 years in content development and instructional design. Master’s degree preferred.
- Experience and knowledge of advanced instructional design techniques, adult learning, and virtual learning environments
- Must have produced or have worked with producers and/or subject-matter experts of online learning courses
- Experience managing online content development and maintenance process including experience with Learning Management Systems (Canvas)
- Experience in project management including managing timelines with internal stakeholders and external consultants
- Experience building collaborative relationships with educational organizations and institutions
- Experience with non-profit and grant-funded projects and knowledge of PBS and public television a plus.
- Excellent time-management and organizational skills
- Excellent communication and diplomacy skills essential
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, including a command of grammar
- Excellent phone manner / customer service skills
- Superior organizational skills and attention to detail
- Resourceful, self-directed, and flexible team player
- Must have received or be willing to receive the COVID-19 vaccination by date of hire to be considered. Proof of vaccination required
