    Asbury University is searching for qualified candidates for their open Instructional Design Position.

    Job Responsibilities

    • Take primary responsibility for supporting and enhancing the quality of online courses at AU.
    • Employ domain expertise for online learning, including instructional design, faculty development, content management, and curriculum planning.
    • Create a viable environment for the scholarship of teaching and learning in the online environment.
    • Provide administrative oversight and support for the learning management system (LMS).
    • Assist faculty and LMS partner(s) with the instructional design and loading of course materials.
    • Support the online learning environment through training and implementation, and promote the expanded use of LMS and software tools.
    • Provide administrative oversight and support for the virtual classroom system used by online classes for synchronous class activities.
    • Provide administrative oversight and support for the shared media repository system used by faculty as part of their course curriculum.
    • Provide administrative oversight and support for the student identification and authentication system.
    • Work with faculty to enhance pedagogy and facilitate instructional technology use.
    • Consult with faculty using grounded instructional design theory, models, and best practices.
    • Provide professional expertise in using and supporting the use of Web, eLearning authoring tools, and video editing to create impactful and media-rich courses.
    • Work with departments to update and maintain online course development queue.
    • Accept other duties as assigned.

    Implementation

    • Develop processes for training and support of faculty for online course development
    • Develop and update course developer toolkit and other support resources (including videos)
    • Develop a course maintenance process and re-development/update cycle and process
    • Assist faculty with instructional media and digital asset creation (help of student workers)
    • Work with schools/college to develop, maintain, and implement program specific online course development templates (using standard, approved online course development as a baseline)
    • Create and manage all development courses created in the LMS (Discovery) Sandbox site
    • Facilitate course content transfer between development (Sandbox) and live site
    • Work with Director of Academic Accessibility Resources to ensure online courses are ADA compliant- develop policies and plan for updating currently developed courses and training and support for course developed in the future
    • Manage the course quality review process
    • Proactive communications and best practices- quarterly newsletter, spotlight online faculty, etc.

    Qualifications:

    Master’s degree in Instructional Design preferred and related instructional design experience required.
