Velocity is looking for an Instructional Designer & LMS Admin to create, facilitate, and expand training courses, learning and development programs, and manage the company’s Learning Management System (LMS). This role will spearhead the company’s learning and development programs, as well as develop department-specific learning courses and new training solutions for our onsite and virtual workforce. This person will also be well-versed in instructional best practices and methodologies and be able to provide counsel and recommendations for improvements to our growth and development programs and activities.
As an Instructional Designer & LMS Admin, you will effectively teach and transfer desired skills and knowledge from the learning environment to optimal on-the-job performance by creating interactive and engaging learning materials for technical roles such as call center customer service and tech support for troubleshooting electronic devices and network/data and VoIP connectivity issues. This person will also create training materials and programs for company-wide growth and development initiatives.
The Instructional Designer is a self-starter that can work autonomously in a fast-paced virtual setting and be a good collaborator and relationship builder. Having experience working cross-functionally with dept managers and trainers, senior/executive leaders, and subject matter experts (SME) with high professionalism will take you far in this role.
Role Duties & Responsibilities:
Design
- Create training materials such as modules, presentations, guides and manuals, job aids, how-tos using videos and graphics for in-person, virtual, and online classroom environments using design/curriculum publishing software
- Design and build blended learning programs in the Learning Management System
- Collaborate with managers, leaders, and subject matter experts (SME) to identify technical training needs across the organization with a high level of professionalism
- Analyze and apply trends and best practices in learning technologies and instructional design
- Responsible for assigned training KPIs tied to departmental performance improvements by ensuring training needs and learning gaps are met through instructional design and curriculum
Facilitation and Instruction
- Administer training curriculum through multiple delivery methods including, but not limited to, instructor-led, self-learning, eLearning, virtual classroom, and/or onsite
- Create supporting material/media (audio, video, simulations, role plays, games, etc.) and build exercises and activities that enhance the employee training experience
- Manage participants and training courses via the LMS by loading, promoting, and retiring courses
Program Management and Governance
- Evaluate training needs and improvements by developing and implementing assessments/tests/quizzes and pulse surveys to measure the effectiveness of training assets
- Propose, execute, and manage instructional design projects leveraging internal resources and use effective project management methods to ensure on-time delivery
- Oversee onboarding programs by training the trainer and measuring the effectiveness of orientation activities, ensuring new hires acclimate into their role and company culture
- Responsible for all tracking and reporting for the company’s required regulatorily and compliance training are met via the LMS (i.e., Safety, Quality, Code of Ethics).
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Instructional Design, Instructional Systems and Learning Technologies, Educational Technology, or a relevant technical field
- 3+ years of experience in an instructional designer role, creating video content and graphics for training using design software and course authoring tools, specifically Articulate 360 or similar such as Adobe Creative Suite, Storyline, and Adobe Captivate
- 3+ years managing an LMS system such as Absorb, Paradiso LMS, Litmos, iSpring, or other top LMS systems.
- Excellent PowerPoint presentation-building skills used for training purposes as well as pitching new learning and development programs to executives
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, especially with Excel, SharePoint, Outlook, and Teams
- A self-starter that can work autonomously in a fast-paced virtual setting while also collaborating and maintaining good relationships with department managers
- Provide counsel and recommendations that enhance learning and development to leaders and key stakeholders using instructional design best practices and learning methodologies
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills – technical writing is a plus
- Skilled in transforming abstract and complicated issues into simple and powerful narratives
- Strategic Thinking: Outstanding organizational and multi-tasking capabilities with the ability to anticipate potential challenges and think creatively to find solutions
Preferred Qualifications are a plus:
- Experience creating training programs for technical roles such as call support centers that offer tech support for electronic devices and network/data and VoIP connectivity, dispatching field technicians
- Experience coordinating virtual company events such as lunch/learns, webinars, podcasts, leadership Q&A sessions, etc.
