Blue Sky eLearn is seeking a qualified Instructional Designer. In this role, you will join the Learning and Development Team reporting to the Director of Learning Strategy.
The Learning and Development team combines aspects of design, project management, and development, with specialization in Instructor Led and digital learning approaches.
This is a fully remote, full-time salaried position averaging 40 hours per week.
Responsibilities
Implements learning strategies: Spearheads the implementation of the strategies needed to drive the initiative forward and to deliver business results, as developed by the L&D strategy team, client, and contracted team.
Creates learning content: The ID works with Blue Sky clients and SMEs to design learning activities, such as assignments, assessments, scripts, storyboards, and interactive eLearning. The ID will define and document learning objectives, conduct research, and collaborate with SMEs.
Creates accessible content: Responsible for the inclusive and accessible design, development, and maintenance of training courses using multiple delivery methods, including instructor-led training (classes and webinars), self-paced web-based training, and other training and development support.
Drives Growth: Works to strengthen client relationships, to ensure client satisfaction, and partners with business development to identify new business opportunities.
Ensures Quality: Works with client team to understand and define quality standards and ensure the Blue Sky eLearn team meets and/or exceeds those standards.
Enforces process adherence: Ensures that all team members apply Blue Sky eLearn’s proven processes to drive quality, efficiency, and customer satisfaction.
Drives Innovation: Keeps current on best practices in instructional design but also researches and considers applications for new technology and strategies.
Applies Adult Learning Principles: Can speak knowledgeably to clients and other stakeholders about the principles of adult learning, why certain design decisions are made, etc.
Qualifications
- A bachelor’s degree in Education or Learning and Development
- Minimum of 3 years of instructional design experience with adult learners
- Experience in association industry preferred
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency in eLearning development software, such as Articulate 360
- Proficiency in communication software, such as Outlook and Slack
- Proficiency in project management software, such as Asana or Trello
Portfolio Submission
As part of the application process, candidates will be required to submit a portfolio that showcases their instructional design work. The portfolio should include samples of e-learning modules, ILT and VILT materials, job aids, and assessments that demonstrate the candidate’s ability to design effective and engaging training materials. The portfolio should also highlight the candidate’s ability to use multimedia tools to enhance the learning experience.

The Instructional Designer is a client-centric individual, capable of becoming a trusted adviser to Blue Sky eLearn’s clients. In addition, this individual possesses high-level skills in:
Client Centric: Ability to create relationships by identifying business issues with learning solutions. Secure buy-in and support from the client organization; able to push back appropriately. Ability to deal with ambiguity and design solutions to meet specific client needs.
Communication: Communicate in an open, yet professional manner; proactively articulate your ideas to clients and colleagues; challenge conventional thinking, even your own; give and receive feedback well; keep an open mind; communicate effectively up to the senior leadership team, across departments, and within your department.
Execution: Ensure that Blue Sky eLearn’s services and solutions are delivered on quality, on time, and on budget in a way that delights clients and helps us grow the client relationship over time. Monitor and manage risk and create mitigation strategies.
Learning: Discuss adult learning theory and instructional design. Explain and recommend multimedia and web-based training solutions.
Project Management: Use of software tools for scheduling, productivity, and communication tools including spreadsheets and conferencing technologies.
