    As an Instructional Designer, you’ll have the opportunity to use your creativity, analytical skills, communication talent, and knowledge of instructional technologies to design training for the traditional classroom, online classroom, self-paced e-Learning modules or a blend of approaches. You’ll use a wide variety of training methodologies including group lecture, role-play, simulation exercises, self-study, on-the-job training, computer-based training, etc. You’ll also have the opportunity to use your rapport-building talent as you consult with managers, vendors, and subject matter experts, and conduct train-the-trainer or occasional training sessions.

    The contributions you can anticipate making:


    Assessing training needs and objectives:

    Working with subject matter experts and clients to gather data, identify training goals, and clarify program objectives, in order to design and develop learning solutions to meet those needs.

    Conducting learning/training-needs assessments.

    Developing course objectives and design plans based on assessment results.

    Identifying needs for resources, sourcing vendors, and coordinating resources to ensure the quality of product and service levels delivered.

    Developing process flows for use in training design.

     


    Developing and implementing content:

    Applying knowledge of instructional design and adult learning theory to design course content.

     

    Working independently to design, develop, and implement, instructor-led, web-based, and blended learning solutions.

    Utilizing training techniques to support the creation and implementation of custom learning programs.

    Creating engaging instructor-led, web-based, mobile, and blended learning solutions and other instructional related documentation and deliverables.

    Managing content creation, review, revision, and sign-off cycles.

    Creating facilitator and learning guides when necessary.

     


    Creating supporting materials:

     

    Applying knowledge of adult learning theory to identify appropriate training media and methodologies based on audience learning styles, course content, audience location, etc.

    Visualizing instructional graphics and user interfaces to create supporting material/media (audio, video, simulations, role plays, games, etc.)

    Developing course quizzes, exams, facilitator guides, facilitator presentations, and course handouts.

     


    Participating in training:

    Conducting occasional training including train-the-trainer sessions.

     

    Evaluating effectiveness:

    Conceptualizing and developing evaluation measures, including knowledge checks, course evaluations, and tests, and reporting on the efficacy of the training.

    Designing evaluation strategies and tools to measure program effectiveness and to determine whether desired learning and performance goals are achieved.

    Interested? Here’s what we need to see on your resume:


    Experience:

    Minimum one year of training delivery.

    Two years of instructional design experience involving the entire process from assessment to implementation of learning solutions.

    Experience with eLearning development software a plus.

    Experience with Word and PowerPoint.


    Education:

     

    Related college degree, certification, or comparable experience preferred.
