We are currently hiring for an Instructional Designer to join the Technology Learning Experience team in ULearn.
This team supports a wide array of learning experiences focused on the technology skills required for roles like software developers, network engineers, data scientists, and many others. In this role, you will partner within and across multiple teams to design and develop consumer-grade learning experiences that increase knowledge and capabilities across various technology disciplines. Whether developing engineer’s software coding skills, helping them learn new and emerging machine learning technologies, or understanding many other technologies used at Comcast, you’ll partner with a team to conceptualize and build learner-centered content that drives performance and delivers results.
Job Description
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
As an Instructional Designer, you’re responsible for content development, design, and implementation using best-in-class authoring tools and media. In this role, you will collaborate with peers to design highly effective training and performance support materials, and manage projects efficiently. In addition, you’ll partner with stakeholders across the organization to analyze performance challenges, recommend the best modality option(s), design and build solutions, and support the implementation and stabilization of the product.
- You collaborate across the organization to co-create impactful learning, including but not limited to:
- Facilitating working sessions with leaders, peers, and SMEs to design, build, and stabilize learning initiatives
- Maintaining a facilitative approach to design, listening for both passive and active feedback and iterating based on that feedback along the way
- Approaching instructional design with a focus on human behavior, specifically Design Thinking and neuroscience-based learning methods
- Creating inclusive learner experiences, including using global accessibility standards and ensuring that all learners, regardless of identity, feel included and represented in your content
- Developing online or print-based learning materials adhering to ULearn internal style and brand guidelines
- Planning and executing deliverables, such as: surveys and interviews, conceptual visuals and prototypes, storyboards/video scripts, journey maps/experience narratives, content strategy/design documents, etc.
- Applying Agile/Scrum methodology to co-create products, test, deploy, and improve in an iterative fashion
- Planning your work, monitoring progress, and documenting project issues through an online project management tool, you communicate risks and needs with others and don’t “wait” for someone else to manage your time and deliverables
- Prioritizing quality assurance across multiple standards of excellence
- You stay contemporary in your field and adjacent fields

REQUIRED SKILLS
- A lifelong learner with an insatiable curiosity
- Understanding of the learner-centered instructional design process, including but not limited to:
- Design thinking principles, curriculum development, adult learning theories, and neuroscience-based learning
- Demonstrated experience designing various types of content such as digital (including eLearning, video – live and motion graphic), ILT and v(ILT), blended, simulation, and more, for non-academic organizations
- Functional knowledge of interaction design, visual design, and content strategy
- Critical reasoning and problem-solving skills
- A technology enthusiast, though you may describe yourself as a digital artist, with an interest in and affinity for, digital learning tools and experiences. Experience and proficiency with graphic design and multimedia tools:
- Required: Articulate Rise, Articulate Storyline, and Microsoft Office Suite (including Teams)
- Preferred: Adobe Creative Cloud, Adobe Captivate, and/or other multimedia development tools
- A strong communicator, whose skills extend to both written and verbal communication, with a knack for diplomacy and building relationships – you see collaboration as critical to getting the best outcome and are a pleasure to work with
- Self-motivated, resilient, and deadline-oriented professional.
- You have solid project management skills – the ability to meet or exceed deadlines and timelines, balance multiple priorities, work under pressure and work collaboratively across teams
- You are familiar with working in both waterfall and agile environments and are successful in both
- You navigate ambiguity, work well under pressure, and adapt quickly to changing information and priorities
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- BA/BS or equivalent in experience and non-university education/certification: Instructional Design, Psychology, Learning Science, Multimedia Development and/or related fields
- At least 5-7 years of experience designing and delivering user-centered learning experiences in a technology-enabled environment
