Who You Are:

The Instructional Designer will be responsible for the creation and development of dynamic and engaging learning materials to support lines of business. This individual will collaborate closely with key business partners and the Director – Learning Development to translate business intent into effective learning materials, with a focus (though not exclusively) on digital-first learning methods.

This individual will consult with stakeholders to identify and analyze learning needs, establish appropriate learning objectives, design and develop training solutions, and assess those solutions for efficiency and effectiveness. They must be proficient with editing and adding multimedia assets to educational content including images, audio and video clips, and other graphical content along with designing linear eLearning layouts that use best practices to introduce, reinforce, and remediate information.

Learning management system administration and previous project management experience is preferred. Must be self-motivated and take responsibility for projects and follow through to completion with minimal need for direct supervision.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop learning materials/tools, from ideation through evaluation using established and evolving design processes including Discovery Learning, ADDIE, and Agile curriculum development
  • Leverage effective needs analysis, project management, course development, and evaluation skills
  • Solid understanding and proven application of adult learning theory
  • Create curriculum roadmaps and learning journeys; recommend the optimal blend and supporting rationale
  • Determine, recommend, and document project instructional standards and strategies, learner engagement strategies, and evaluation plan
  • Utilize video and digital storyboarding in design and development. Leverage gamification and rich media to enhance the learner experience
  • Design content, including measurable learning objectives, leaders and participant materials and tools, experiential scenarios and simulations, assessment, and evaluation questions
  • Develop online learning solutions which are engaging and creative, while still maintaining the instructional integrity and validity of the solution
  • Engage with team members to enable clarity of goal; conduct ongoing reviews to ensure outcome on track to meet needs
  • Participate in Train-the-Trainer activities. Partner with other content developers to support material development needs, as appropriate
  • Set and achieve challenging individual goals that support department and business goals
  • Communicate comfortably with managers, peers, and other design stakeholders. Collaborate across functions and levels

Requirements:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in instructional technology, instructional design, or learning design & technology or minimum 3 years of experience in Instructional Design in a corporate setting with an emphasis on eLearning design and LMS administration. Additional experience and or certifications may substitute for Bachelor’s degree.
  • Proficient with such tools: Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere Pro, After Effects, & InDesign
  • Advanced experience with eLearning Module Development using: Articulate Storyline, Microsoft PowerPoint, TechSmith SnagIt, Camtasia Studio, and Adobe Captivate for use in course shells and virtually facilitated sessions
  • Expert experience designing, implementing, and editing courses in one or more Learning Management Systems and optimizing web cameras, digital microphones, and still/video cameras to produce multimedia assets
  • Must be able to Travel for Business needs
