100% online courses do not require students to step foot on campus. Fully online course have mandatory face-to-face sessions totaling no more than 15 percent of the instructional time, where face-to-face sessions may include orientations, laboratory activities, exam reviews, or an in-person tests.
Hybrid or blended refers to courses in which a majority (more than 50 percent but less than 85 percent) of the planned instruction occurs when the students and instructor(s) are not in the same place ( Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board).
- Working knowledge of learning and instructional design theories and adult theory.
- Working knowledge of ADDIE Model, Backward Design, educational design, and curriculum development.
- Working knowledge of college level courseware and ability to apply that understanding to course development.
- Knowledge of Fair Use and copyright issues that apply to online course delivery.
- Ability to design, develop, and implement instructional multimedia products.
- Demonstrated skill in application of current technologies (desktop applications, internet, multimedia).
- Analytical skills in project management and assessment knowledge.
- Ability to apply proficient writing skills to author courseware.
- Ability to communicate effectively in writing and orally.
- Master’s degree in instructional design.

- Online Learning Consortium Instructional Designer Certificate Program.
- Two or more years of experience designing with the Canvas LMS.
- Two or more years of experience with our institution’s supported technologies.
- Two or more years of experience conducting systematic instructional design in a higher education eLearning setting;
- One or more years of experience with the OSCQR higher education rubric;
- Two or more years of experience with a mainstream learning management system;
- Two or more years of experience with mainstream project management;
- Two or more years of experience training faculty;
- Two or more years of experience teaching hybrid/online courses in higher education
- Website and graphic design.
