As an instructional design coordinator, you will design and facilitate training for all Northwest Community College instructors. You will work with subject matter experts to assist, design, or adapt the coursework to online learning platforms. By using your technological skills, you will keep our campuses using the latest instructional technologies to remain at the forefront of online and distance learning education. You will use problem-solving and analytical skills to work with our instructors, subject coordinators, eLearning technology specialist, as well as the Help Desk to keep eLearning running smoothly throughout the semester and to minimize any downtime that could negatively impact our students’ learning.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
- 3-5 years experience in online curriculum development
- Proficient in Microsoft Office
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s degree or higher in instructional design
- Experience working with Canvas or similar learning management system
- Experience working in a community college or regional college setting
Instructional Design Coordinator Job Responsibilities:
- Evaluate new eLearning materials
- Create or assist instructors with educational podcasts, videos, and content
- Design and revamp both new and established learning models
- Implement feedback from program reviews
- Research new innovations in both learning design and education
- Help in the development and design of courses and curriculum
- Edits and develops online learning materials
- Develop instructor’s manuals, rubrics, and other teaching tools
- Collaborates with subject experts to develop course content
- Manages online learning communities
- Trains instructors, students, and employees in how to use learning technologies
- Keeps current on best practices in instructional design
- Works with technical staff to troubleshoot problems reported by users
- Perform other duties as may be assigned by the Dean of eLearning
Instructional Design Coordinator Qualifications/Skills:
- Knowledge of instructional theory, including assessment
- Proficiency with learning management systems (LMS)- ideally Canvas
- Understanding of website design best practices
- Excellent project management and organizational skills
- Experience with design platforms such as Design Plus
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, including the ability to effectively convey technical information to non-technical colleagues and clients
- Critical thinking skills
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple simultaneous deadlines
