Belden is hiring an Instructional Designer. In this role, you will be responsible for designing and developing technical, operational, and sales training curricula for internal employees and external customers in the network connectivity and industrial automation industries; ensure that training courses address all levels of use of priority Belden products and services. Ensures that training courses address all levels of customers in the use of company products/services with a focus on outcome-based selling methodologies. Creates training plans and develops training for a variety of methods (e.g., classroom, eLearning, podcasts). Interfaces with stakeholders to develop specifications.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Follow instructional design methodologies to design, develop, and evaluate courses and assess skills gaps and propose priorities for future development.
  • Execute the phases of instructional design methodology for external and internal training projects.
  • Critically analyze sales training curricula, uncover ways to elevate the training to become more effective and engaging, and our current product/service offerings to elevate their effectiveness and engagement.
  • Present and discuss training solutions, along with our sales team.
  • Effectively storyboard and write scripts for the training classes.
  • Create and update technical training materials to support multiple product implementations within specific industry verticals
  • Design learning experiences and products that conform to adult and technology learning best practices and address the needs identified in a job/task analysis.
  • Create and maintain eLearning templates, content design requirements and guidelines, quality process, content publishing process, and requirements.
  • Drive the development of instructional design projects and deliverables.
  • Manage interactions with product trainers and subject matter experts to define, design, and create supplementary course materials, develop test materials, create job aids and classroom training aids, and identify effective methods to ensure accurate, effective materials to meet critical deadlines.
  • Collaborate with technical instructors to tailor, prepare for, and deliver high-impact learning experiences.
  • Design and develop technical video training from drafted scripts and key graphic assets.
  • Ability to process and disseminate materials in a technical environment.
  • Experience using videos and podcasts to create effective learning experiences.
  • Use instructional design processes to create effective instructor-led training materials appropriate for the intent to support a variety of audiences.
  • Maintain quality standards of materials, applying to pre-established style guidelines and design templates.
  • Develop templates and style guides that reflect a common look and feel across all training materials.
  • Identify potential efficiency and effectiveness improvements in existing programs.
  • Engages product and services teams and documentation team writers to obtain feedback from system users’ accuracy of product training materials, and to encourage questions and suggestions for improved training materials.
  • Provide proposed plans and status reports to the manager and other stakeholders.
  • Coach others in the development of learning materials to help them self-service their team’s learning needs.
  • Continuously upgrade/refresh online learning materials based on iterative delivery and retrospective and maintain source control for learning materials.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Instructional Design, related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 1+ years of eLearning development experience. Sales process training experience preferred.
  • 1+ years of experience as an instructional designer.
  • Experience with eLearning technologies.
  • Proficiency with Docebo, PowerPoint, Articulate 360, HighSpot, and Adobe Captivate or other screen casting tools preferred.
  • Passion for learning, communicating and solving problems
  • Ability to manage multiple assignments in a deadline-driven environment
  • Dependable, great team player, responsible contributor committed to excellence and success.
