The National Instructional Designer works to analyze, design, develop, implement and measure effective learning solutions for our associates at all levels of the organization. The responsibility of the Instructional Designer is to analyze performance needs and identify how to translate those needs into effective and sustainable learning solutions. In addition, as our organization integrates more and more technology and social media tools, the Instructional Designer will work alongside our learning leaders to help to make the transition to more interactive learning programs.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Collaborates with Learning leaders and L&D staff to effectively design learning solutions for assigned areas of the business.
- Research training needs, supports learning solution design, organizes all materials to help prepare trainers and facilitators, and conducts/participates in train-the-trainer sessions as needed.
- Supports content updates for existing learning resources and programs; recommends changes when appropriate.
- Evaluates the effectiveness of training programs through monitoring training surveys.
- Maintains current knowledge of new training techniques, learning technology and curriculum design methodologies.
- Defines and documents learning objectives and outcomes for all new learning solutions.
- Conducts research and collaborates with subject matter experts.
- Creates instructional materials: courses, curriculum, facilitator and participant guides, videos, job-aids, and simulation-based eLearning modules.
Qualifications:
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Experience in supporting large-scale change management initiatives highly preferred.
- Ability to design and implement effective learning solutions.
- Ability to evaluate and research training options and alternatives.
- Ability to perform needs assessments and to analyze areas of strength and weakness.
- Proficient with learning technology software such as the Articulate Storyline suite of tools, Adobe Creative Cloud, and related program software.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Instructional Design or related field required.
- At least 2 years of demonstrable experience in designing training programs.
- A portfolio of learning samples is required.
