    The Assistant Training Manager / Instructional Designer participates as a training, education, or instructional design professional in a systemwide program or project. The individual selects technologies and tools, creates supportive learning activities, and develops new training in response to the University’s needs. In collaboration with others, the position creates multimedia content and produces it according to an established schedule. The individual will analyze needs and develop recommendations to address a wide range of training issues. The Assistant Training Manager / Instructional Designer provides support for testing courses to ensure they are functional, designed with learning in mind, and compliant.

    Please Note: This is a remote position. Additionally, as part of the recruitment process, a work sample and presentation will be required from identified finalists.

    This position is based on funding from the University of California Office of the President (UCOP). The full salary range for the Assistant Training Manager / Instructional Designer is $64,300.00 – $114,300.00 annually. However, the expected pay scale for this position is $64,300.00 – $91,162.00 annually. We base salary offers on a variety of considerations, such as education, licensure and certifications, experience, and other business and organizational needs.

    Applicants must have current work authorization when accepting a UCR staff position. Currently, we are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa for staff.

    As a university employee, you will be required to comply with all applicable University policies and/or collective bargaining agreements, as may be amended from time to time. Federal, state, or local government directives may impose additional requirements.

    Minimum of 2 years of experience with eLearning authoring tools (such as Articulate Storyline, Adobe Captivate/Presenter, etc.), and/or video production software (such as Adobe Premiere, Camtasia, etc.), and/or animated video creators.

    Thorough knowledge of current training programs and trends.
    Thorough knowledge of applying adult learning theories and education methodologies.
    Thorough knowledge of organizational policies and procedures.
    Thorough knowledge and skills with relevant business software systems; i.e., Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint.

    Strong skills in planning, resourcing and monitoring effective delivery of training.

    Thorough knowledge of training and development, performance management and workplace learning. Ability to apply knowledge to achieve successful organizational outcomes.

    University of California experience or familiarity with higher education institutions or non-profit organizations

    Thorough knowledge of the technical tools and platforms required to achieve the delivery of engaging and media-rich online learning content, and of trends in the use and effectiveness of educational technology and learning

    Thorough analytical skills to conduct analysis and develop recommendations, demonstrating organization and problem-solving skills.

    Strong skills to conduct needs assessment and development of new training courses to meet organizational needs.
