Role Summary:
The Instructional Designer brings extensive learning and development expertise to successfully drive the credit union’s efforts in the design and implementation of all learning, financial education, and leadership development instructional content. Provides leadership and direction on instructional design models, adult learning theories, training needs analysis, training effectiveness metrics, data analysis, and prepares Learning & Development Specialists to successfully deliver the designed content.
Takes ownership, demonstrates a high degree of accountability, and are committed to building a stronger organization through programs that develops all team members and drives organizational change. Under the general supervision of the Learning & Development Manager, the Instructional Designer will develop and sustain strong partnership with the Learning and Development Team and other organizational key stakeholders as needed for curriculum development.
What You Will Be Doing:
- Provides expertise by leading development, implementation, and evaluation of all training, education, leadership development content, internal Train-the-Trainer Program, and other business relevant content.
- Applies knowledge of adult learning theory to identify appropriate training media and methodologies based on audience learning styles, course content, audience location, and point within the learning process. Learning content is created for traditional classroom, online classroom, self-paced online modules, or a blend of approaches.
- Analyzes performance needs and designs, develops, and assesses specific learning solutions that are focused on continuous organizational learning and development needs.
- Creates and develops performance and competency-based learning and performance support solutions that promote practice, retention, and application of new skills and knowledge.
- Defines learning objectives and goals for success. Maps these to appropriate learning modality to build a robust training curriculum.
- Builds change management plans by leading or supporting a variety of change management activities including readiness assessments, planning, stakeholder management, execution, evaluation, and sustainment of initiatives.
- Leads or participates in defining the communication plan designed to positively influence or change behavior; develops tailored messaging and identifies appropriate distribution channels.
- Conducts content reviews and train-the-trainer sessions with Learning & Development Specialists, Financial Education Specialists, and Train-the-Trainer Program participants, and/or stakeholders to ensure accuracy and validity of all training deliverables.
- Perform all duties and maintain all sensitive data with the highest standard of confidentiality and professionalism. Consistently display respect for all areas of diversity, levels of knowledge, and leadership.
- Display mutual respect, trust and dignity, acting in the best interest of the credit union at all times. Display solid ethics and integrity.
About You:
- Expertise in adult learning and all aspects of instructional design for various formats, including instructor-led, eLearning, and various types of performance support.
- Proven knowledge of Instructional Design theory, iterative development processes, and evaluation methods.
- Understand adult learning facilitation skills, process improvement know-how, and ability to project ideas.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to build/set schedules and adhere to projects.
- Proficiency with multimedia design and authoring tools like Adobe Captivate, Articulate360, Camtasia, Powtoon, Vyond, or similar programs.
- Knowledge of credit union industry and previous financial industry experience preferred.
- Ability to effectively use credit union’s applications, core operational and member servicing applications.
- Excellent listening skills and customer service attributes.
- Must possess clear and effective oral and written communication skills.
What You Will Need:
- Minimum of five years of related job experience, financial industry experience preferred.
- Four-year college degree or completion of a specialized course of study at a business or trade school. Additional related experience equivalent to educational requirements.
- Must consistently display courtesy, tact, and diplomacy.
- Must possess and display excellent oral, written, and presentation skills.
- Must maintain professional demeanor and appearance.
- Independent travel is required to complete duties and attend training as necessary.
- A valid Driver’s License is required.
