As an Instructional Designer for Johns Hopkins Health Plans, you will be responsible for creating virtual/classroom instructor-led courses, online self-paced modules, job aids/user guides, and other supporting materials while following the established instructional design process (ADDIE). You are a people-person who is passionate about educating adults. You have a high attention to detail and the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines in a fast-paced department. You are always focused on process improvement and learning new features of development tools and software.
What you’ll do:
- Use strong interpersonal, written, and visual communication skills to bring together text, images, video, and audio to communicate and educate our employees.
- Design, develop, implement, and evaluate training initiatives to include systems training, operational updates, and staff development courses.
- Collaborate with training colleagues and SMEs to ensure training material is current and effective.
- Develop comprehensive trainer materials such as facilitator guide, PPT deck, participant workbook, and job aids to ensure subsequent and/or replicated training sessions are synchronized.
- Develop course, reference, and/or instructional content that is thorough, accurate, and user-friendly, as applicable.
- Conduct walk through sessions with subject matter experts/stakeholders and facilitate train-the-trainer sessions.
What you’ll bring:
- 3+ years’ experience in instructional design.
- Demonstrated full-cycle of instructional design experience to include: analysis, design, development, implementation and evaluation. Must have experience developing training modules in a business setting.
- Bachelor’s Degree in education, communications, organizational development, or related field
- Knowledge of theory and practice of instructional systems development, adult learning, principles of distance education, training and development, training implementation, and learning facilitation
- Certifications in Instructional Systems Design (ISD), Distance Learning, or Web-Based Training preferred.
- Demonstrated familiarity with instructional design and courseware development principles.
- Strong PC skills; including: Word, PPT, Outlook, Teams. Prefer experience in some or all of the following eLearning authoring tools: Storyline 3, Captivate 2019 or newer versions.
