The Tesla Training Team is looking for a motivated and energetic Instructional Designer who wants to put their skills to use in accelerating the world’s transition to sustainable energy. This position will be working with the Training Systems and Development team and subject matter experts throughout all areas of the factory to create innovative instructor led and online courses, training and evaluation standards, and organizing them into the Inside Tesla knowledge management library in an organized and effective manner. You will be expected to challenge and to be challenged, to create, and to innovate.
What You’ll Do
- Partner directly with subject matter experts to design and develop engaging content for a variety of audiences and delivery modes (online, webinar, etc.) with clear strategies and tactics to achieve desired learning outcomes
- Recommend to the team different applications or layouts that would improve user experience in the current classes and trainings
- Maintain, collaborate with team members, and revise existing learning products, keeping content absorbable to our specific audiences, learning modality, and other learning considerations in mind while always looking for the most efficient way to express the desired learning objectives
- Serve as content manager for assimilating training development initiatives from the factory team into formats with the ability to stay within timelines. Able to adjust to changes in priorities or scope of projects as needed
- Keep up to date with current trends in Leaning and Development to ensure we are taking advantage of the most up-to-date technologies and techniques
- Perform other duties as required
- Helps to set up training standards that can be used globally by different teams
- Able to engage with Content Experts and stakeholders to create interactive, clear, and error-free content, including but not limited to Standard Guides, Web based training, Visual Distribution Center, Presentations.
- Must be creative and act as a liaison between technical and innovative groups to solve gaps in training using methodical processes
What You’ll Bring
- Bachelor’s degree preferred (preferably in an Instruction field)
- 2+ years of experience designing and developing training curriculum preferred
- Able to provide an eLearning portfolio or demonstrate ability to create high-quality eLearning products
- Experience with design tools used in a learning creation environment (MS PowerPoint, Adobe Photoshop/Illustrator).
- Ability to communicate in both written and oral formats clearly and effectively
- Open collaborative style; ability to work both in a team environment and autonomously with minimal supervision or direction
- Ability to be unfazed by ambiguity and comfortable in environments with shifting priorities
- Ability to communicate professionally with all levels of management
- Proficiency with MS Office products
- Curiosity to understand the strategic priorities for Tesla how learning and development can best address skill and knowledge gaps in the workforce
- Previous experience creating web-based training, technical writing, and standard guides.
- Able to work in high paced environment with ambiguity to put communications into a structured manner.
- Experience creating process documentation that clearly and efficiently communicates concepts, ideas, and instructions.
- Ability to translate verbal information into clearly written procedures.
