We’re looking for an amazing Specialist, Instructional Design to fill this role, which is based in ours Santa Clarita offices. You’ll be responsible for engaging learning experiences in support of business goals, with a focus on supporting all four brands of the Holland America Group. Additionally, the Instructional Design Specialist is responsible for partnering with the shipboard fleet L&D team to align consistency with the Global L&D objectives. The Instructional Design Specialist designs and delivers formal and informal learning, including instructor-led and eLearning formats. The Instructional Design Specialist consults with business partners to support them in designing and delivering their own proprietary training.

Responsibilities
- Develop engaging learning experiences and content enhanced for retention and transfer: States instructional end goals and creates content that matches them, Applies tested instructional design theories, practice and methods
- Analyzes and selects technologies; develops instructional material/media across varied delivery methodologies (instructor-led training, video production, e-learning, performance support, etc.)
- Coordinate with business partners to conduct standardized business and needs analysis and synthesizing data to identify solutions aligned with organizational goals.
- Conducts instructional research and analysis on learners and contexts; develops deep understanding of shipboard environment and associated constraints
- Develops and maintains learning program documentation, collaborating closely with the Learning Operations & Program Management team to support implementation and sustainability of learning programs
- Foster a collaborative team culture where each member takes pride in the quality of the team’s collective work.
- Developing clear timelines for ongoing and periodic task associated with projects and programs.
Requirements
- 3 years proven working experience in instructional design and with instructional technology in a corporate environment
- Excellent knowledge of learning theories and instructional design models
- Lesson and curriculum planning skills
- Experience with e-learning course development software (Articulate / Captivate)
- Visual design skills
- Ability to write effective copy, instructional text, audio scripts/video scripts
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel and PowerPoint) and CBT authoring tools (Articulate/Storyline)
- Flexible to changing priorities and willingness to support global 24/7 operation
- Hospitality industry experience considered an asset
- Cruise industry experience considered an asset
