The ECHO Colorado Instructional Designer position will provide support for all instructional and curriculum design duties for ECHO activities. The work is done in collaboration with the Instructional Design Program Manager, and all department teams—leadership, marketing, evaluation, development, and implementation—will be impacted by and/or dependent on the work. Therefore, this position requires instructional and curricular design domain expertise.
This remote position collaborates with the ECHO CO leadership to identify topics and audiences. This position is responsible for aligning curriculum with learner needs, training those in the facilitator and presenter roles, building relationships among those with expertise, designing innovative and rich learning experiences, and securing the connection between the development and evaluation phases of the ECHO series. This position consults with exterior organizations to build the instructional design and logistical capacity necessary for engaging education interventions. The position also serves as a conduit for bringing new design methods, tools, innovative approaches, ideas, and relationships into the program center. This position responds to leadership team requests for literature reviews, market scans, and other evidence-building activities to drive strategic decision-making and tactical approaches. Furthermore, this position is responsible for proactively driving and overseeing such activities under their specific area of expertise (curriculum and instructional design).
Key Responsibilities:
- Supports in-house learning registration and management software (including working with developers for future improvements).
- Independently builds asynchronous online courses using a learning management system.
- Influences program-level strategic decision-making and tactical approach by generating summary evidence (through literature reviews, market scans, etc.) and recommending specific action.
- Supports strategic decision-making and tactical approach for an area of expertise (instructional and curricular design).
- Serves as a liaison for all ECHO faculty based on- and off-campus.
- Provides continuity between Program Center teams (particularly leadership, development/implementation, marketing, and evaluation/dissemination) through promoting communication and encouraging focus on unique project goals.
- Provides theoretical and evidence-based grounds for the evolving ECHO educational model.
- Explores innovative ideas and solutions to be applied in ECHO’s virtual, collaborative educational sessions, on unique health topics targeting a wide variety of health-worker audiences annually.
- Offers constructive feedback on projects and processes under the purview of others on the ECHO CO team.
- Collaborates with subject matter experts to define the parameters of the educational intervention and to identify the training needs of potential audiences.
- Guides topic development and designs outcome-based curricula appropriate to the ECHO educational model.
- Develops training tools and provides coaching to train facilitators in the art of online facilitation.
- Works to ensure high-quality presentations by creating guidelines and instructive materials, live coaching sessions, and an evaluation framework to guide future improvement.
- Collects and disseminates expert resources to the participants via the ECHO Connect database.
- Strengthens relationships by making strategic reach-outs to appropriate partner contacts.
- Participates in the larger ECHO community by creating and maintaining contacts in other organizations conducting ECHO series.
- Consults with partner and outside organizations to help them build capacity and creates guidelines and educational materials to help them develop and implement the ECHO series.
- Serves as primary point person for academic and instructional design resources on the CU Anschutz campus, working to enhance the learning innovations of the program center.
- Serves as representative for ECHO CO Program Center at conferences, events, other pieces of training, and presentations.

Qualifications:
- A bachelor’s degree in instructional design, business, marketing, communications, social science, or a directly related field from an accredited institution.
- At least two or more (2+) years of experience in instructional design.
Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.
Substitution: A combination of education and related technical/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the bachelor’s degree on a year for year basis.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s degree (completed or in progress) from an accredited college or university in education, instructional design, educational technology.
- At least one (1) year of experience with a Learning Management System (LMS).
- Three (3) or more years of experience in instructional design.
- Three (3) or more years of experience overseeing instructional design strategy across multiple health programs targeting public-, population-, and clinical-health-focused audiences.
- Experience using technology to support innovative educational techniques.
- Knowledge of medical terminology and clinical and/or public health care topics.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

- Experience working with accredited continuing education (CE) for healthcare professionals.
- Experience using eLearning development software (Articulate Storyline, Adobe Captivate, etc.) to build asynchronous courses.
- Experience using Adobe Creative Cloud software.
