    This position offers expertise, consultation and direct support for instructional design, educational research, faculty development, student support, educational innovation, assessment and evaluation principles, and also provides support, guidance and education to members of the university community on educational technology and best practices related to instruction and implementation in DMU programs. Supports faculty and program leadership in developing skills in instructional design and online course development/ delivery, as well as assessment and evaluation, and designing assessment and evaluation programs for sessions, courses, curriculum phases and student outcomes. Develops and directs a comprehensive program of preventive, remedial, and developmental services to enhance the academic success and promote the professional growth of Des Moines University students, both on and off campus, and evaluates the effectiveness of such efforts. This position is also responsible for the support of instruction design of online and on campus classes.

    Education and/or Experience:

    • Master’s degree is required in adult learning, education management, instructional design, curriculum and instruction, educational technology or related field. Doctoral Degree is highly preferred.
    • Minimum three years of related professional experience, preferably in an academic health science center or university setting.
    • Experience in the design and development of instructional materials and media, interactive educational experiences, and learning assessment.

    Essential skills:

    • Demonstrated knowledge of adult learning theories, instructional design theory and instruction design models, as well as outcomes-based assessment and online teaching strategies.
    • Demonstrated ability to build course content and assessments within software systems, Windows and Mac operating system proficiency.
    • Demonstrated ability to create and/or manage educational content and assessment data using a variety of software tools that support elearning.
    • Understand and advocate the guiding philosophy of “One University.”
    • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and effectively across disciplines with administrators, faculty and/or students.
