THE ROLE
This role will be responsible for building a best-in-class Learning & Development center of expertise that accelerates the growth and development of all employees. The role will be global in scope, partnering with HR and business leaders across the Fine Arts, Luxury and Financial Services divisions, in addition to product, technology and operations leaders supporting the business. This is a real opportunity to put your stamp on a learning strategy and roadmap from its foundation.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Define and set the expectations for what it means to develop and grow with Sotheby’s
- Support the design of a comprehensive career architecture, including the creation of company-wide competencies and learning pathways by role group
- Support the learning content related to all talent lifecycle programs, including Goal Setting, Performance Management, Promotion Reviews, Talent Calibrations, and Succession Planning
- Design a best-in-class online/in-person onboarding experience for employees that is sustained beyond new hire stage through into years two, three and beyond
- Design and deliver a ‘Sotheby’s Masterclass’ program to upskill and elevate all relationship managers and specialists on key role capabilities, including pitch practice, deal negotiation and client development techniques.
- Design engaging content specific to Sotheby’s in partnership with internal and external subject matter experts, ranging from in-product training on proprietary systems to foundational learning on the history of art, the business of art and so on
- Combine internal and external resource to deliver manager training and leadership development for the organization, balancing scalable cost-effective methods with lasting employee impact
- Coordinate a global calendar of mandatory training requirements, such as annual anti-harassment training
- Facilitate a variety of in-person and virtual employee sessions, ranging from onboarding content to systems content to management development and coaching
- Ensure that the employee learning experience in our LMS is optimized and intuitive, leveraging the latest developments in SuccessFactors’ roadmap
- Identify program metrics and assess program effectiveness to gain a deep understanding of our employees, their educational needs, and their roadblocks to success
IDEAL EXPERIENCE & COMPETENCIES
- Minimum 8+ years of relevant HR and learning experience
- Experience project managing large-scale organization-wide people programs
- A strong communicator ideally with extensive facilitation experience; proactive, clear, and compelling in both written and oral communication
- Proven track record cultivating relationships with senior stakeholders to understand and prioritize the learning needs of the business
- Strong ability and willingness to actively manage the Learning Management System and embed the necessary processes to create and maintain content.
- Operates with a sense of urgency while maintaining attention to detail
- An independent thinker with a strategic and systematic approach to learning
- Experience with design tools and eLearning platforms (Adobe Suite, Articulate, Captivate)
- Working knowledge of authoring tools preferred (such as Captivate, Articulate Studio/Storyline, Camtasia, Adobe Photoshop/Illustrator).
The proposed base salary for this position ranges from $125,000-$175,000. In addition to base salary successful candidates are eligible to receive a discretionary bonus, as well as a competitive benefits package. Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education, and, where applicable, licensure or certifications obtained. Market and organizational factors are also considered.
