    The Human Resource Office for the NC Department of Public Safety (DPS) provides comprehensive human resources services to all sections/departments throughout the agency. Current DPS staffing is in excess of 26,000 positions. This position reports to the Performance and Organizational Development Unit. The Performance and Organizational Development unit is responsible for: development of curriculum supporting either the Human Resources Manager; HR Information Systems or Performance Programs; development, review, revision and management of New Employee Orientation and New Supervisor on-boarding programs; design, development and administration of e-learning modules as a blended learning solution; administration and management of an agency-wide learning management system and performance management system and synchronous distance learning systems.

    This Staff Development Specialist I will serve as an E-Learning Specialist will analyze learning needs and partner with subject matter experts to provide input for course content and works with management to ensure course materials are current and relevant to business needs. The E-Learning Specialist will design and develop e-learning courseware, performance support tools, online tutorials and system demonstrations that effectively address learner needs.

    This position will assist in all aspects of user support (Tier 1 Enterprise Support) for the Performance and Organizational Development unit. Position will also provide learning and development support HR projects enabling organizational efficiencies and alignment. Duties include producing high-quality documentation that is appropriate for its intended audience.

    This is a full-time position (40 hours per week) with State Benefits.

    About the Department of Adult Correction (DAC)
    The North Carolina Department of Adult Correction is responsible for the care, custody, and supervision of all adults sentenced after conviction for violating North Carolina laws. This department includes State Prisons, Correction Enterprises, the Division of Community Corrections, and the Division of Rehabilitation & Reentry.

    • Experience and/or education in developing curriculum for e-learning or virtual coursework and training material.
    • Demonstrated experience performing duties which require knowledge of standard concepts, practices and procedures of instructional design.

    Management Preferences:

    • Experience using web development tools and learning technologies including Articulate Storyline, Articulate 360, or similar programs.

    Bachelor’s degree from an appropriately accredited institution and one year of experience in a progressive training or teaching role or one year of experience in a human service, counseling, or training program in the subject matter specified;
    OR
    An equivalent combination of education and experience.
