Website U.S. Figure Skating

U.S. Figure Skating, the National Governing Body for the sport of figure skating, located in Colorado Springs, Colorado, is accepting applications for the position of eLearning Designer. U.S. Figure Skating is a member of the United States Olympic and Paralympic Committee (USOPC) and the International Skating Union (ISU).
The eLearning Designer serves the Sport Development and Strategy Department by developing and creating innovative and engaging online courses for figure skating coaches and officials. The eLearning Designer will work with both staff members and volunteer subject matter experts to guide the creation of courses from the beginning through their delivery on the LMS platform (Moodle).
Responsibilities:
  • The primary responsibility is the instructional design and development of online course content and contribution to our overall eLearning design strategy for figure skating coaches and officials.
  • Support the coach development pathway and certification program by creating eLearning courses that follow the curriculum and content as determined by the Director, Coach Education and Development.
  • Work closely with staff and volunteer SMEs to determine key information and resources to be included in courses; provide guidance and direction to writers as needed.
  • Integrate emerging instructional design technology and interactive tools into course design for adult learners.
  • Employ a consistent approach to both course design and development processes as well as ensure that courses adhere to U.S. Figure Skating brand guidelines and industry best practices.
  • Develop storyboards and scripts for the development of e-learning content, ensuring they are production ready.
  • Create courses in Articulate Storyline 360 (or in the LMS platform when appropriate).
  • Determine when it is cost-effective for a production-ready course to be produced by a 3rd party vendor vs., self-created; oversee 3rd party vendor as appropriate.
  • Work with IT department to ensure courses are loaded properly into the LMS and the LMS platform is kept up to date.
  • Work closely with the staff team and volunteer leadership for course content, prioritization and project management.
  • Manage teams of writers (including volunteers) to ensure course completion. Step in to complete courses or change writers as needed.
Qualifications:
  • Applicant must hold a bachelor’s degree and/or relevant certifications and additional experience in the field.
  • Broad technology skills and experience; experience with Articulate Storyline 360, the Moodle learning management system, and Adobe creative suite.
  • Excellent written communication and organizational skills, as well as attention to detail.
  • Experience working with SMEs, particularly highly engaged volunteer leadership.
  • Excellent project management skills.
  • Experience with figure skating or other sports is preferred.
Location: Colorado Springs, Colorado (Hybrid)
U.S. Figure Skating has a flexible work environment. Employees are required to work from the office three days per week; additional remote opportunities exist based on the organization’s business operations.
Classification: Exempt
Reporting Requirement: Reports to Director, Coach Development & Education
Compensation: Commensurate with experience: Annual Salary Range: $55,000 – $65,000
