Role description*
PulseLearning is embarking on a new growth phase. We are looking for seasoned freelance instructional designers for upcoming projects. You will be joining a truly dynamic and driven group of professionals in an internationally recognized brand that provides award-winning, world-class products and services.
In this role, you will consult with global Clients to understand their training objectives and performance goals and create innovative solutions that wow their learners. You will work alongside a development team consisting of project managers, instructional designers, learning consultants, subject matter experts (SMEs), quality improvement analysts, and media designers…and you might have some fun along the way!

Role *responsibilities

  • Experienced Senior Instructional Designer (SID) to support learning and development engagement—primarily focused on storyboard creation (based on a preexisting high-level design using a blended learning strategy).
  • Must be comfortable evaluating the existing design and making program-level design suggestions.
  • Work well within the fast-paced, highly collaborative project team, including senior stakeholders.
  • Have experience working in an agile project flow with an iterative approach to content development.
  • Minimal Viable Product mindset and experience is key to success.

Required education* and certification*

  • A degree in Instructional Design, Education, Communication, English, or a related field

Required skills and experience

  • Minimum of 6 years of variable Instructional Design experience.
  • Experienced in agile and iterative content development (using the minimal viable* product* approach) making dynamic adjustments in line with changing needs.
  • Ability to deal with ambiguity.
  • Quick to acclimate and integrate into a project team.
  • Ability to research materials and draft content with minimal SME involvement.
  • Confident, professional manner with excellent communication skills.
  • Strong ability and experience working with learning projects.
  • Experience working with senior business executives and SMEs.
  • Experience working with content in cross-functional areas.
  • Knowledgeable in core adult learning principles.
  • Significant ability to assess and recommend appropriate training modality.
  • Ability to contribute to the design as the project grows.
  • Significant experience designing and writing specifically for digital—eLearning or Virtual ILT (or both)—as well as videos, performance support resources, and all types of learning assets that might apply in different delivery modalities.
  • Significant ability to link objectives and measurement—ability to write and align impactful learning objectives to effective assessment questions, resulting in high-impact content.
  • Strong visualization skills—provide direction to visually layout content for optimal learning.
  • Excellent ability to forge relationships with colleagues and senior stakeholders.
  • Ability to work on multiple related projects at the same time.

Preferred skills and experience

  • Experience in business transformation or organizational change
  • Articulate Storyline skills (Intermediate or better)
  • Project Management experience
  • Possess a strong portfolio with samples of e-learning development/course design, documentation and visuals.
