The Director, Learning & Development – Programs is a leadership role in the Learning and Development team at YUSA reporting in the EVP, Chief Learning Officer. As a leader in the organization, this role will actively collaborate with other members of the L&D organization, members of the YUSA team and across the Y Network in a team-based environment. The Director L&D is responsible for stakeholder engagement, communications, project management, workplan management, staff supervision and budgeting for their focus area in L&D.
In addition, the Director, L&D Programs will coordinate all activities related to learning program design including audience needs, stakeholder priorities, learning modality and implementation in the Y Network for individual and team learning and development.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree, certifications or commensurate experience in training and development, instructional design, education, training, human resources, organization development, or related field required
- 5 years program management experience
- A growth mindset and ability to adapt to evolving needs in a changing environment while continuing to deliver with quality
- Ability to travel approximately 15% of the time
- Demonstrated excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
- Demonstrated Intermediate skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Office 365, SharePoint, Teams, and Outlook)
- Demonstrate ease in learning and navigating multiple technology systems (e.g., Cvent, Qualtrics, WebEx, Skype, Exact Target, Learning and Career Development Center)
- Demonstrated experience in strong program and project management skills, analytical skills, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills (PM certifications +)
- Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain collaborative partnerships with individuals across a broad range of groups.
- Demonstrated commitment to accuracy and follow through on execution
- Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

- Management of technical soft skill and leadership curriculum portfolios
- Design and implementation of learning and leadership development experiences for facilitators and participants utilizing adult learning principles and aligned to competency model
- Integration of blended learning solutions include Instructor-Led training, eLearning, microlearning, virtual Instructor Led Training, Assessments and leveraging social media channels to engage users
- Analyze outcomes and ROI on existing training programs prioritizing to ensure high quality experiences are enabling measurable learner outcomes
- Manage consultant/vendor relationships as needed to support programs/projects
- Facilitates learning experiences as needed
- Actively engage users in learning programs to increase adoption leveraging communication vehicles that include social media, and communities
- Coaching and evaluation of learning faculty that report directly and indirectly
- Bias for action with strong project and program management skills, including monitoring work-plans, managing against milestones, knowing what to prioritize and why, knowing who to keep informed, why, and how often, and knowing when to escalate to implement innovative solutions
- Definition of program success criteria, outcome measurement, and evaluation and ongoing analysis of learner feedback and other data to promote continuous improvement of development solutions, consistently moving solutions to deliver high value.
- Create learning experiences aligned to strategy that leverage Y and industry subject matter experts, curated content, digital solutions, high value in person experiences, role based learning paths and learning in the flow of work
- Lead with excellence and foster high-performing teams in virtual environments; develop people through advocacy, coaching, mentoring and training
- Ensure policies, programs and guidelines are followed and manage exceptions and escalations
- Performs other duties as assigned by EVP CLO
