The curriculum developer will stay abreast of all policy and practice changes affecting programs for which the developer is responsible, and they will manage production of assigned curricula and all associated training materials . Additionally, this position will manage all new and revised curricula pilot training sessions, provide evaluation analysis and make needed revisions. The incumbent works collaboratively with learning management system and training delivery staff regarding final distribution of the curriculum and training course schedules, and with all program staff and committees apprising them of training needs and progress. The curriculum developer also partners with colleagues within the Local Training and Development division to develop standards for training of content and trainer certification procedures. The incumbent will participate in the development of new training technologies to include eLearning and coaching materials.
Other competencies the candidate will need to successfully perform in this position:
- Experience in managing and tracking multiple projects simultaneously
- Applied knowledge of instructional design methods including adult learning techniques, best practices for group facilitation and using instructional aids for adult learners; apply evidence-informed learning design; from the perspective of instructor-led and eLearning delivery.
- Knowledge of and/experience with local department of social services program administration and services delivery or similar working across a state’s state/regional/local delivery systems.
- Teamwork skills to effectively engage and learn from other members of the training team.
- Ability to research, write, edit, revise and format curriculum.
- Ability to project manage the development process including, development timelines, internal and external stakeholder input, and revision cycle, as well as involving stakeholders in the review and piloting of courses.
- Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing, meet deadlines, travel to deliver training, participate in meetings to address statewide training needs and interact with all levels of DSS & other State and Local entities.
- Competency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, PowerPoint, MS Teams).
- Experience in developing or revising training curriculum and working with subject matter experts to design, write, course content for training.
- Experience in assessment, design, delivery, and evaluation for in-person instructor-led training and virtual instructor-led training.
- Demonstrated experience and skill in interpreting and applying policy regulations, best practices, and guidelines in the area of Child Care Subsidy including considerable knowledge of at least three of the following areas: Child Care Subsidy program; quality child care in child day centers, family day homes, and licensed child day centers; helping parents choose quality care, child development and early learning; early care and education programs; VACMS; background investigations.
- Must have valid driver’s license.
- Graduation from an accredited college or university with concentration in Adult Education, Instructional Design, Social Work, or another Human Services field
- Experience in developing or revising training curriculum and working with subject matter experts to design, write, course content for training.
- Experience in assessment, design, delivery, and evaluation for in-person instructor-led training and virtual instructor-led training.
