Indonesian Online Education Platform Pintar Raises $3M in Pre-Series A Round

-

Pintar, an Indonesian online education platform that aims to enhance employment opportunities for all people of productive age, has recently raised $3 million in a pre-Series A funding round led by Havez Capital, an investment firm founded by Imelda Harsono, which is also the vice president of Indonesian industrial gas company Samator Group. The round also witnessed participation from SIG Venture Capital.

Pintar, formerly HarukaEdu, focuses on workforce development with solutions such as training, credentialing, and job placement. This sets it apart from most EdTech startups in Indonesia, primarily focusing on K-12 education. The company believes that successful job opportunities will improve people’s quality of life, boost their sense of responsibility to themselves and the community, and provide opportunities to discover the best version of themselves.

Speaking about the company, Chief Executive Officer of Ray Pulungan in a statement:

Our mission is to empower labour. The company aims to enhance workers’ skills to “break through the infamous middle-income trap.”

The startup claims that it currently serves over 2 million users. Its platform is also used by private companies like minimarket chain Indomaret for recruitment and training and state-owned company Krakatau Steel for talent development and compliance refreshers.

In addition to enterprises, Pintar has also partnered with Indonesia’s Ministry of Education and the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry. Before renaming as Pintar in 2022, HarukaEdu raised funding to the Series C round with a total disclosed amount of $2.2 million.
