Add webmail messaging to your Moodle using the Mail plugin

-

Moodle LMS is one of the most robust and feature rich open source learning management system in the world. It is used by more than 365+ million users around the world. You can add Moodle plugins to extend the feature set to customize the learning environment according to your requirements. In this post we will have a look at the Mail plugin which can be used to add Webmail like messaging system.

The Mail plugin for Moodle can be used by participants to connect with each other. The user interface is similar to modern web mail clients. The user can send messages using the Mail plugin only to the other users within the same course.

This plugin allows users to send messages to each other, using an interface and features similar to webmail clients. Messages are tied to courses, users can only contact other participants in courses they are enrolled. Reading/sending of messages is done through a new item in the navigation block called “My Mail”.

You can download/get the Mail plugin for Moodle through the official repository here. The plugin is pretty actively maintained over past so many years and received Early Bird badge for all recent Moodle version released.

The plugin can add a much useful and anticipated email kind of feature in your Moodle LMS. So, if you are looking for a solution to allow your users communicate with each other, you can use this plugin.
