    The Learning Management System (LMS- eLearn – currently Brightspace by D2L) Administrator acts as the enterprise application system manager and technical expert for eLearn, Sinclair’s learning management system and its integrated third-party tools. As a liaison between all departments and parties invested in eLearn (faculty, divisional and other staff, IT, vendors, advisory groups, etc.) and the system vendor, the LMS administrator maintains and owns organizational-level control of the LMS and provides front-line support, upgrade management, daily, weekly, and monthly critical task execution, and overall expertise in the delivery of eLearning and other services through the LMS. The LMS administrator works hand in in hand with vendor product support staff to ensure smooth, efficient operations of the LMS for more than 30,000 users across three iterations of the platform.

    The salary for this position is between $55,674 to $74,232. Salary is determined commensurate with experience.

    After sufficient training, this position is eligible to work remotely at the discretion of the supervisor.

    Principal Accountabilities
    • Performs recurring LMS system maintenance and operational tasks to ensure secure, seamless, and stable organization-level use of eLearn occurs without significant downtime as directed by need or management in alignment with pertinent partners both internal and external (e.g, IT, RAR, Registration and Student Records).
    • Participates as Sinclair’s representative/liaison (except where otherwise dictated) in assigned committee and other technical meetings/endeavors to include – but not limited to – eLearn Advisory and Online Teaching and Learning Groups, vendor advisory and other technical or product groups, and online vendor-specific LMS community forums and product information pages.
    • Receives, analyzes, tests, and oversees communication of scheduled upgrades to LMS in concert with division personnel and other parties as dictated by system update contents (e.g., IT, RAR, RSR).
    • Serves as the institutional expert on the LMS as an enterprise application across all iterations (production and test) and integrated products for support purposes when escalated to the org-level, including creating and monitoring support tickets with the LMS vendor or other third-party vendors, and contributes to the overall strategy of user support and systems evaluation for the college.
    • Performs requested operations within LMS or through integrated products including – but not limited to – LTI, API, IPSIS, Colleague, and SCORM integrations; tool upgrades and testing; creation of shells (e.g,, dev, master, communities); theme/brand/appearance settings, Cloud-based tool (e.g. repositories) Administration; testing/review/execution of configuration variables or other pertinent settings; templates management; bulk user enrollment; bulk course copy; and special access/role permissions.
    • Stays current on LMS technical and practical knowledge through participation in product forums, attendance at vendor or other events, review of publications, and pertinent product literature.
    Requirements
    • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Instructional Design, Intstructional Technology or related field required; Master’s degree in education or a related field required
    • Minimum of 2 years’ professional experience required; work related to an LMS or similar enterprise-level applications from an IT or IS preferred
    • Relevant industry certification such as PMP, SCRUM Master, or other preferred
    • Strong interpersonal collaboration and communication skills and the ability to communicate across multiple parties invested in the LMS required
    • Strong problem solving skills and the ability to work independently with minimal oversight performing highly technical operations in a self-directed manner required
    • Excellent attention to detail and records keeping
    • Technical knowledge of systems analysis, enterprise application administration, and application administration
    • Common LMS-related programming/development knowledge including HTML, CSS, and JavaScript preferred
    • Basic knowledge of accessible web and learning design required
    • Quantitative and qualitative data analysis and reporting skills required
