    This position leads the planning, analysis, design, development, deployment, and evaluation of learning materials. This position works collaboratively with development and delivery teammates to develop, test, and maintain software applications to improve efficiency of business operations. This position also writes training and performance support materials for clinical application and also designs, writes, and develops materials for departments throughout the Village applying instructional strategies in collaboration with subject matter experts (SME).

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    The following duties and responsibilities generally reflect the expectations of this position but are not intended to be all inclusive.

    • Design and develop curriculum-level learning systems
      • Conduct needs assessment
      • Develop training plans, design documents, and analysis documentation
    • Select, modify, or create a design and development model appropriate for a given project.
    • Identify and describe target population characteristics
    • Analyze the characteristics of the environment
    • Select and use a variety of techniques to define and sequence the instructional content and strategies.
    • Position provides leadership, mentoring, and coaching to other instructional designers; may oversee day-to-day work and contribute to performance reviews as requested.
    • Lead the design and development of instructional materials; create interactive, effective, engaging course content and SCORM compliant training products
      • Design, write, edit, and develop audience-appropriate, clear, and concise training materials and tools
      • Consult/collaborate with subject matter experts
      • Develop appropriate performance objectives to guide the development of training and performance support materials and tools
      • Create interactive, engaging course content on subjects as assigned
      • Conduct/Create/Record audio files as needed
      • Develop complete self-paced online course using course authoring tools such as Adobe Captivate and Articulate Storyline
      • Create tests and assessments within the Learning Management System (LMS) assessment center to validate/certify knowledge of eLearning content
      • Evaluate and assess instruction and its impact
      • Schedule weekly project calls with SMEs and project stakeholders
    • May conduct or arrange internal SME audio recordings or professional audio voiceovers as needed
    • Create project documentation including design templates, training plans, need analyses, standards, style guides, technical specifications, straw models, train-the-trainer, and pilot materials
      • Manage project related documents and source files; update as necessary
      • Record progress and time related to project development
    • Perform quality assurance checks on training courses that have been developed
    • Arrange internal pilot group testing of new eLearning courses
    • Provide for the effective implementation of instructional products and programs
    • Upload web-based training (WBT) materials, files, courses in LMS
      • Work with LMS, IT, or software vendor to resolve any technical issues with the WBT course or its performance within the LMS
      • Write course descriptions for inclusion in the LMS
    • Modify existing instructional materials
    • Promote collaboration, partnerships and relationships among the participants in a design project
    • Apply business skills to managing instructional design
    • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned including but not limited to:
      • Attend team meetings, phone conferences, and training as needed
      • Know, understand, and follow teammate guidelines, employment policies, and department or company procedures
    • Travel required: up to 20%

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

    Education, licenses, certifications, and experience required to fulfill the essential duties, include computer skills as required.

    • High school diploma or equivalent required
    • Bachelor’s degree in related area required or a combination of education and progressively responsible work experience in related area may be substituted in lieu of degree on a year-for-year basis
    • Minimum of four (4) years’ instructional design and development experience in an eLearning environment with:
      • Demonstrated experience in eLearning planning and analysis, with particular emphasis on identifying learner and environmental characteristics, and the use of technology.
      • Demonstrated experience in eLearning design and development, with particular emphasis on producing meaningful, memorable, and motivational learning experiences
      • Demonstrated experience in implementation and management of eLearning solutions, with particular emphasis on collaboration and effective communication,
      • Demonstrated proficiency in instructional design with experience in eLearning course development required
      • Demonstrated expertise using adult learning models and instructional systems design (ISD) to develop effective sound learning and performance support materials and tools required
      • Demonstrated expertise in online course/training design and development required
      • Demonstrated expertise in creating content outlines, storyboards and web-based training modules required
      • Demonstrated expertise in design, development, delivery, and evaluation of technical training required
      • Demonstrated expertise providing training consultation and/or training curriculum/product design recommendations required
    • Intermediate computer skills and proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook required
      • Advanced proficiency in eLearning authoring tools, such as Adobe eLearning Suite (including Captivate, Flash, Photoshop, etc) or Articulate Storyline strongly preferred
      • Intermediate proficiency with SCORM specification for content integration in an LMS or other delivery platform
      • Intermediate proficiency in JavaScript, Flash ActionScript, and graphics development preferred

    • Primary language of instructional design is English; position requires expert-level fluency in English language including but not limited to vocabulary, grammar, reading, writing, proof reading and editing.

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS

    Physical requirements can vary. These must be reviewed with management. However, in general, the position requires the following physical activities:

    • Ability to hear and interact by phone clearly and efficiently
    • Ability to use computer and all peripherals for extended periods of time

    WORK ENVIRONMENT

    Level III – Moderate noise (examples: business office with computers and printers, light traffic)
