The White House Communications Agency (WHCA) is a one-of-a-kind joint service organization dedicated to providing premier information services and communications support to the president. We are seeking a Instructional Designer to join our Peraton team.
What you’ll do:
The Instructional Designer will coordinate, review, and provide feedback on all curriculum development material in support of the Training Academy.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct needs assessments and strategic learning assessments to develop the basis for curriculum development and update curricula.
- Interview subject matter experts or conduct other research to develop instructional content.
- Present and make recommendations regarding course design, technology, and instruction delivery options.
- Provide analytical support for the design and development of training curricula, learning strategies, educational policies, or courseware standards and obtain client approval.
- Develop instructional, learning, or performance objectives.
- Develop instructional materials and products (Instructor Guides, Student Guides, student exercises and activities, and assessments) for instructor-led and online courses for adult learners on a government site.
- Design instructional aids for stand-alone, instructor-led classroom, or online use.
- Assess effectiveness and efficiency of instruction according to ease of instructional technology use and student learning, knowledge transfer, and satisfaction. Review student feedback surveys and develop and implement course improvements to address feedback.
- Review existing instructor-led curriculum materials and recommend content to be transitioned to a blended-learning delivery method.
- Design, develop, and implement online courses and training videos for hosting on the customer network or a Learning Management System (LMS).
- Train and mentor instructor staff on instructional strategies and methodologies, course delivery techniques, and assessment validation.
- Review, maintain and update training and curriculum development SOPs.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Education or related field, 3-5 years’ experience in instructional design/eLearning development and/or Military Instructor certification
- Knowledge of the ADDIE (or SAM or SAT) model instructional design methodology
- Demonstrated experience using one or more course authoring tools (such as Adobe Captivate or TechSmith Camtasia)
- Top Secret Clearance (Able to obtain SCI and PSD/Yankee White)
Preferred Qualifications:
- Strong communication and customer relationship skills
- Instructional Design certification from an accredited institution (such as Certified Professional in Talent Development from ATD)
- Adobe Captivate and/or TechSmith Camtasia certification
- Military experience and/or background

Target Salary Range
$112,000 – $179,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
