The LMS Specialist manages day-to-day administration of Hornbeck’s Workday Learning/LMS. Responsibilities include course creation, system configurations, troubleshooting, and serving as a subject matter expert. Collaborates with the Training Team to enhance online learning experiences, provides technical support, and ensures system security. The LMS Specialist will also contribute in system configurations, troubleshooting and ongoing implementation of Workday.
The LMS Specialist is part of the overall training team and assists the Onboarding and Fleet coordinators in their roles.
SCOPE OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The duties of the LMS Training Specialist shall include, but are not necessarily limited to the following:
- Responsibilities include (but not limited to) the Learning Management System (LMS) maintenance, integrations with vendor partners, troubleshooting, training local admins, end user support, reporting and continuous improvement initiatives
- Executes administrative tasks in the LMS such as user management, system updates, creating and closing out training activities, evaluations, and reporting.
- Provides timely, complete, and accurate learning administration support by resolving queries within the Learning Management System (LMS) – Workday.
- Manages user roles, securities, and permissions associated with LMS access. Develops and revises LMS guidelines and procedure.
- Inputs data, provides data validation and correction as needed, and performs quality control of data input by others.
- Creates and maintains new content and custom computer-based training (SCORM content) in the LMS using Storyline and other content creator software
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and implementing enhancements
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver learning solutions
- Stays current on all learning technology and learning experience design evolution.
- Help create and locate supporting material/media (audio, video, simulations, role plays, gamification, etc.) to be used within the LMS.
- Communicates in a thorough, accurate and timely manner to Training team members and stakeholders.
- Upload, publish, test, archive learning solutions, assign training curricula, and add and delete resources as needed.
- Generates, analyzes and troubleshoots training and usage reports.
- Create and validate reports for audit requests as needed
- Develop presentations and other supporting documentation (standard work, training resources, project planning, and roll out schedules) for Workday Learning
- Assists training team in preparing facilities for training events
- Meets monthly with Training teams in Mexico and Brazil for LMS training and support
- Occasional travel outside of Corporate Office as needed
- All other duties as assigned by the Training manager
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Instructional Design, Instructional Technology, Educational Technology, Adult Education, or related field, or in lieu of education, 4+ years experience in adult learning technology or related field
Experience: 2+ years’ experience administering and Implementing a LMS in a corporate training, or professional services environment. Or three years of demonstrated success in administering, using, and supporting a learning management system and other instructional technology systems. Workday administration experience strongly preferred. Past employment with a maritime-based employer preferred.

o Demonstrated proficiency using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Power Point, Access and Outlook).
o Knowledge of learning management trends and methodologies

o Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
o Must have the ability to learn STCW and Coast Guard regulations.
- Must be willing to board and ride vessels to increase understanding of how this role supports our business.

Eyesight: Functional, correctable to 20/20

HOURS OF WORK
Standard office hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00am until 5:00pm and may be adjusted with approval by the department supervisor. Some overtime, work related travel and weekend work may be required, subject to company operational requirements. Regular and reliable attendance is required.
