    The Office of Digital Health (ODH) Instructional Designer will design, develop, and implement core training materials for digital health products implemented in the OHSU Health System and partner hospital and clinics. These service products include virtual visits, ambulatory outreach visits, eConsults, eVisits, transitions of care, Virtual ICU, acute care, and inpatient. Training is created in collaboration with the ODH training team, clinical department counterparts, Epic Training Department, Scheduling Department & Quality Department. The Instructional Designer is responsible for establishing processes and tools for identifying training needs, creating and maintaining training content, developing courseware, and evaluating training effectiveness. Using established instructional design models, the Instructional Designer is accountable for creating and operationalizing training programs utilizing a variety of delivery methods including eLearning modules, tip sheets/user guides, videos, and individual to classroom-based sized (virtual and in person) training. This position reports to the ODH Manager of Clinical Education & Quality and works closely with the ODH Education & Quality Coordinator to execute training plans.

    Function/Duties of Position:

    Instructional Design
    Work with ODH team to evaluate department needs to create, propose, and develop training plans. Analyze training needs to develop new training programs or modify and improve existing programs. Develop and design interactive and quality training programs. Partner with subject matter experts (SMEs) to develop dynamic instructional interactions and simulations. Attend digital health product update and design meetings to understand educational needs.
    Apply visual and graphic design techniques to produce professional and engaging course content. Engage learners by using strong technical writing skills and requiring learner interaction in eLearning modules.
    Obtain feedback from SMEs and other stakeholders, implement revisions, and collaborate with departments to create and/or refine course content.

    eLearning development
    Utilize industry standard instruction design strategies and eLearning development best practices to develop and deploy eLearning courses for online delivery via a learning management system (LMS). Use eLearning software, like articulate 360. Design eLearning quizzes and meaningful course interactions to increase learning and retention. Plan, attend, and facilitate meetings with stakeholders in the development of eLearning products.

    Asynchronous training resources
    Create asynchronous training resources for the ODH internal 02 website including tip sheets, video demos, PowerPoint presentations. Resource materials will complement eLearning modules developed above. Work with ODH team and stakeholders in creating communication plans for internal training updates.

    Program Management
    Collaborate with team to establish consistent planning, scheduling, production, and tracking processes. Participate in team initiatives and improvement projects; participate in cross functional projects and/or committees. Utilize effective communication skills to communicate frequently and effectively with various project collaborators. Identify project deliverables, tasks and milestones; ensure training project timelines are reasonable and communicate risk of missing or conflicting deadlines. Work with the Compass team to ensure timely and efficient roll-outs of eLearning modules.

    Miscellaneous
    Present content to small and large groups, work with ODH education team to facilitate virtual and in person training, other duties as assigned

     

    Required Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Education, Organizational Development, Informatics, behavioral sciences or related field.
    • OR, 4 years of additional experience demonstrating the skill set needed to be successful in this role by showing experience utilizing adult learning principles to create effective teaching and learning programs, creating and delivering learning content, and managing programs related ot learning and development will substitute for the degree requirement.
    • 3 years of experience working in a training or educational role with demonstrated ability to create and deliver training material.
    • 1 year experience facilitating and managing learning and development programs.
    • Knowledge of principles and methods for curriculum and training design, adult learning principles, teaching and instruction for individuals, groups, and measurement of training outcomes
    • Experience in creating eLearning courses using eLearning software
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite
    • Ability to be a self-starter and work successfully in a team-oriented environment
    • Demonstrated ability to effectively assess training needs using ADDIE to achieve desired performance.
    • Ability to create project timelines and manage multiple projects simultaneously
    • Demonstrated skill in communicating information to a wide variety of audiences using a wide variety of media; strong oral and written communication skills.
    • Must be able to perform the essential functions of the position with or without accommodation

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Master’s in Education, MBA, or healthcare related field
    • Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite
    • Demonstrated proficiency using Articulate Storyline and Rise to create eLearning content
    • Experience in web design
    • Demonstrated ability to create training content that can be delivered consistently and successfully by a wide range of independent facilitators and trainers.
    • Experience using Epic (EMR)
    • Demonstrated ability to present content to large groups
    • Teaching experience
    • Certificate in ISD, training, or eLearning
