Lead work with academic units and other stakeholders to design and implement learning experiences for delivery in multiple modes and platforms. Design & facilitate engagements that enhance stakeholders knowledge and continuously improve learning solutions. You will work with academic units to create learning programs and courses, and with CTLI staff to create internal training for MSU employees. Design, create, and deliver engaging lifelong learning programs (e.g., job aids, e-learnings, asynchronous discussion, learning assessments, video content, interactive web pages, and promotional materials).
Primary Accountabilities
30% Leads aspects of the client relationship including discovery, project planning, design sprints, testing and implementation while managing stakeholder/project communications and risk management.
30% Oversees the coordination of work between academic units, internal stakeholders and external partners or consultants to execute delivery of learning experiences, digital media elements and web solutions.
15% Recommends project activities and processes to incorporate design thinking, user-centered and participatory design in the creation of instructional and learning assets that align to industry quality frameworks and evidence-based best-practices.
15% Implements prototypes of online course designs, digital media and websites with stakeholders to facilitate the design process and collect end-user feedback. Then oversees the initial production of proposed design for implementation as HTML webpages, online courseware in learning management systems/platforms.
10% Maintains or increases instructional, digital media and web development knowledge through course work, attended workshops/seminars, or outside reading with regards to instructional design, digital media, and web development theories and practices.
This is a hybrid position that is expected to work in the office 2-3 days a week.
Example Job Activities
- Facilitates working sessions for focus groups, brainstorms, innovation workshops, design sprints, prototype tests, multi-day workshops, and project teams.
- You will recommend project activities to incorporate design thinking, user-centered, and participatory design.
- You will assist academic units in preparing their faculty to teach online/blended courses and programs, utilizing the Quality Matters framework and similar evidence-based practices.
- You will create e-Learning content & interactive modules with various authoring tools (e.g., Articulate 360, H5P, Adobe Creative Suite, Synapse, Vyond, TopHat, etc.).
- You will build micro-Learning videos with various video editing tools (e.g., Camtasia, Adobe Premiere, After Effects) and animation tools
- You will develop Instructor-led and self-paced learning by working with MSU instructors to produce e-learning content – e.g., Google Slide presentations, providing feedback and an expert learning opinion on content.
- You will assist in the more complex coding aspects of website maintenance for online.msu.edu and teachingcenter.msu.edu.
- You will be responsible for all aspects of the development process, from requirements gathering to the final coding and auditing
- Ensure consistent styles and standards are maintained
Unit Specific Education/Experience/Skills
Knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired by completing a four year college degree program in learning experience design research, education, curriculum, educational technology, educational psychology, instructional design, communication, organizational development or related field; three to five years of related and progressively more responsible expansive work of experience in an educational setting; experience in current curricular models, instructional design frameworks, and assessment methods; an experience in teaching, learning experience design, and/or design; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

- Portfolio showing work that demonstrates web-development coding and work in and with content management systems
- HTML/XHTML (including W3C standards and WCAG accessibility standards)
- HTML5, CSS, JavaScript, Flex experience
- Ability to organize, gather requirements, design, layout, and maintain a website; all aspects of web development
- Intermediate understanding of website accessibility, logical layout structures, and web marketing statistics
- Knowledge and demonstrated experience with cross-browser and web-hosting server issues (IE, Firefox, Safari, Windows, Linux)
- Attention to detail, customer-service orientation, and creativity in problem-solving
- Superior knowledge of current web-design trends and techniques, and online portfolio displaying user-centered design
- Knowledge of SEO principles and of implementation of those principles
