Instructional Designers are responsible for developing effective training for staff and providers. This is achieved through proper assessment, planning, development, delivery, and support of Electronic Health Record (EHR) and technology education in partnership with various stakeholders. At their core, Instructional Designers develop training material and manage training knowledge base to ensure robust and in- depth training for users outside the classroom. Instructional Designers are also tasked with assessing the impact and scale of each training campaign to optimize and improve each iteration.

What you will do
All responsibilities of Instructional Designer I including:
- Collaborate with business partners to identify appropriate training approach/strategy
- Serve as Training Team’s liaison for external departments
- Assist with online and classroom training technical issues
- Provide recommendations and insight around strategic decisions and complex issues
- Support and contribute to development of new products, services, or techniques
- Develop Training & Education for both new hires and continuous growth for existing employees.
- Assess, design, develop, and maintain training/education storyboards, documents, materials, and files.
- Support achievement of target educational goals for various departments, projects, or employees.
- Collaborate with other trainers, educators, Informaticists/Analysts, and Subject Matter Experts to ensure delivery of effective and accurate training collateral to impacted users.
- Collaborate with the Training Team, business leads, other stakeholders, and management in the planning, design, implementation, and evaluation of training programs.
- Integrate knowledge of organizational policies, procedures and guidelines into educational programming.
- Assign appropriate online training for users.
- Document and monitor new hire EHR/Technology competency.
- Support, assess, develop, and deliver communication to target audiences regarding complex system changes.
- Validate online training curriculum and training materials.
- Recommend improvements to existing training offerings.
- Provide training completion reports to both internal and external management.
- Provide EHR/Technology product updates and optimization training.
- Support maintenance of Education knowledge base content.
- Obtain and maintain associated certifications and subsequent New Version Trainings
- Performs other related and incidental duties as needed or required.
- Serve as a backup trainer for department Training Team
Education Qualifications
- Bachelor’s in Instructional Design, Instructional Technologies, Adult Learning, or other related degree or equivalent combination of Education/Experience Bachelor’s preferred
Experience Qualifications
- 7+ years of Instructional design experience
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Understand health care workflows and EHR/Technology functionality.
- Integrate general medical terminology during training development when appropriate.
- Apply EHR/Technology knowledge to assess education requests and end-user needs.
- Apply industry-standard adult learning, online training, and coaching principals and methods.
- Identify metrics that monitor training program efficacy.
- Experience working with the Epic Electronic Health Record (EHR) preferred.
- Apply project management concepts and methodologies.
- Execute identified plan regarding available information, constraints, and anticipated risks.
- Moderate Learning Management Systems.
- Apply adult learning theory and methodology to online training development.
- Diagnose and resolve complex online training issues.
- Focus on customer service and high-quality service offerings.
- Possess appropriate interpersonal skills for inter-departmental collaboration and success.
- Develop written, oral, instructional, and presentational material at a professional level.
- Leverage high-functioning analytical ability and solution-oriented approach.
- Complete identified tasks and activities with intended outcomes and within expected timeline.
- Identify problems and potential solutions for training and support issues.
- Communicate concepts in elegant, concise, eloquent form to clients at all organizational levels.
- Foster effective working relationships and build consensus across business areas
- Share feedback professionally and tactfully to both internal and external partners.
- Propose innovative training methodologies and approaches.
- Work independently or part of a team.
- Advanced professional who applies acquired job skills, policies, and procedures to complete substantive assignments/ projects/ tasks of moderate scope and complexity; exercises judgment within defined guidelines and practices to determine appropriate action.

- Almost daily interaction with business partners’ employees and Information Technology partners.
- Proficient in the MS Office Suite applications.
- Familiar with Learning Management Systems
- Familiar with various online training development tools.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Intermediate to advanced in the MS Office Suite applications.
- Certification in eLearning Design & Development
- Certification in Captivate
- Familiar with Electronic Health Records (EHR)
Location: Newark, Ca
Pay Range-$62-70/hr.
