    The educational technologist will work with the instructional design team in the development and implementation of educational technology initiatives. This position will be responsible for providing support to faculty, staff, and students in the use of educational technology, developing and delivering training on educational technology tools and platforms, and troubleshooting technical issues. The educational technologist will also be responsible for staying up to date on emerging educational technology trends and developments. This includes the review and evaluation of courses to ensure quality, consistency with the curriculum, currency, and advancement of the student learning outcomes in accordance with the predetermined appropriate standards of quality and course design assistance and support. Position Responsibilities: 40.00% – Educational Technology:
    Serve as a resource and support for faculty, staff, and students in the use of technology for teaching, learning, and research.
    Assist faculty and students in the use of multimedia and other technologies for presentations, class projects, and other course activities.
    Develop and deliver workshops and training sessions on various aspects of educational technology.
    Manage and maintain an up-to-date knowledge base of educational technology resources.
    Stay abreast of new and emerging technologies and their potential applications in education.
    Evaluate and recommend software and hardware solutions to meet the needs of faculty, staff, and students in collaboration with Information Services.
    Facilitate and serve on committees and workgroups related to educational technology.
    Provide one-on-one consultations to faculty, staff, and students on the use of technology for teaching, learning, and research.

    35.00% – Data Security & Quality Assurance:
    Review and evaluate selected courses to ensure quality, consistency with the curriculum, currency, and advancement of the student learning outcomes in accordance with the predetermined appropriate standards of quality.
    Ensure data security for educational technology tools and software.
    Work in collaboration with Institutional Effectiveness to ensure quality course data is being shared to relative stakeholders.

    20.00% – Course Design:
    Work with faculty to design and develop courses using best practices in instructional design
    5.00% – Performs other duties as needed or assigned. Expectations: Demonstrate commitment to the highest ethical standards of professional practice, as well as personal and professional integrity. Maintain a current knowledge of educational technology, multimedia production software, instructional design, and learning management systems.

    Travel Requirements:
    Normal travel – ability to travel for activities such as meetings, classes, and workshops between campuses and instructional sites and out of the area;

    Must be able to travel by air as needed to attend training, conferences, and related activities;

    Overnight travel as required.

    A significant level of trust and diplomacy is required in addition to normal courtesy and tact. Work involves motivating others and maintaining a high level of confidentiality. Also expected to maintain positive and effective relationships outside of the department so as to actively influence use of educational technologies. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Experience – Two years to five years of similar or related experience. Education – A Bachelor’s degree. Interpersonal Skills – A significant level of trust and diplomacy is required, in addition to normal courtesy and tact. Work involves extensive personal contact with others and/or can be of a personal or sensitive nature. Work may involve motivating or influencing others. Outside contacts become important and fostering sound relationships with other entities (companies and/or individuals) becomes necessary and often requires the ability to influence and/or sell ideas or services to others. Other Skills – REQUIRED:
    Bachelor’s Degree – educational technology, instructional design, education or related area.

    PREFERRED:
    Experience related to the position, especially faculty support and training. Proven experience with educational technology tools.
    Excellent customer service skills and organizational skills.
    Excellent ability to master programs quickly.
    Excellent project management skills.
    Proficient in learning management systems (LMS), eLearning authoring tools, and multimedia production software.
    Physical Requirements: The work is sedentary. Typically, the employee may sit comfortably to do the work. However, there may be some walking, standing, bending, carrying of light items, driving an automobile, etc. No special physical demands are required to perform the work. Regular exposure to favorable conditions such as those found in a normal office or classroom. Wages/Other:

    The salaried rate for this position is $45,528.45 to $51,251.38.
