    The Instructional Designer & Training Manager is a member of the Miracle-Ear Retail Excellence team, which is responsible for the strategy, development, implementation, and maintenance of training solutions within the business unit.

    In this role, you will have the ability and vision to analyze, develop, execute, and manage learning programs. You will be responsible for creating complex training materials and experiences and ensure the skill and performance development of our field teams. You will also support our business strategies, and drive change in the employee and patient experience to achieve our goals.

    You will manage the instructional design team within the Miracle-Ear Training Team. Adult learning principles and development best practices, along with innovative delivery methods will be utilized for all training programs and educational solutions.

    Responsibilities

    Curriculum and Content Development

    • Applies knowledge of adult learning principles and development best practices to perform needs analyses, design, create, and facilitate training and development programs.
    • Identifies required curriculum for program participants, assesses learning needs through data and real-life execution, and develops appropriate training solutions across a variety of subject areas
    • Determines and utilizes the most effective training methods such as classroom, demonstrations, on-the-job training, eLearning modules, web tutorials, documentation and manuals, and workshops.
    • Develops assessments and metrics to effectively evaluate the retention and application of learning; adjusts and enhances training to continuously improve understanding and results.
    • Applies big picture thinking to provide scalability, consistency, and cross functional application of training content and programs.
    • Partners with internal and external teams to understand and assess training needs, prioritize work, and deliver recommendation and solutions.
    • Consults and collaborates on new processes and tools and prioritizes learning and mastery of various delivery platforms including LMS.
    • Manages concurrent training projects to successful completion.

    Facilitation and Training

    • Facilitates in a variety of settings and, trains and coaches adults with a broad array of backgrounds virtually, asynchronously, and in person
    • Works effectively and adaptively with a diverse professional audience that can include dispensers/audiologists, leadership, business owners, and global partners.
    • Builds trust and credibility with partners and colleagues through regular interaction which is evidenced by feedback and proven working partnerships, as well as initiative and business outcomes.
    • Communicates and collaborates with team members, leadership, and business units to ensure needs are met.
    • Demonstrates leadership in classroom sessions with time management, addressing coaching challenges (behavioral, over-achievers, low performers), and completion of program delivery.
    • Supports continuing education training and requests in partnership with the CEU Coordinator.
    • Supports internal and external team members with tools and skills needed to perform their roles.

    Project and Team Management

    • Document and maintain protocols for the efficient delivery, development, deployment, and maintenance of training content to be followed by members of training team.
    • Monitor the ongoing projects of the business unit training team to assist Associate Director in prioritizing and assigning work that aligns with the goals of the organization.
    • Encourage a strong team culture where employees are challenged, supported, and engaged.
    • Source and partner with external vendors on the creation and facilitation of training programs to supplement internal programs.
    • Manage the day-to-day work of the Learning & Development Specialist by prioritizing and assigning work that aligns with the goals of the organization.
    • Manage, lead, motivate and develop team member(s), providing assessments of skill and performance and delivering feedback.

    Education and Experience

    • Bachelor’s degree plus 5+ years’ experience designing and developing comprehensive multi-modal training programs with measured impact, project management, and facilitation, training, and coaching
    • Demonstrated leadership in training for a diverse retail and field-based organization; experience in a global organization preferred
    • Familiarity with LMS administration and webinar production
    • Demonstrated ability to engage audiences and train diverse skills (sales, medical devices, IT systems, customer service) to a wide variety of skill levels.
    • Experience with managing direct reports and operating within a matrixed organization
    • Familiarity and experience in the hearing or healthcare field (preferred)

    Qualifications & Proficiencies

    • Proficient in training and development tools such as Articulate (Storyline, Rise), Adobe Captivate, video editing software, GoAnimate, and Microsoft Office 365, Zoom, and similar
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills that resonate with a wide range of audiences in person and remotely
    • Project management skills with the ability to lead and gather information from cross-functional teams; proficiency in project management tools such as Smartsheet preferred
    • Highly organized, consistently positive, and self-directed and manage multiple projects and tasks in a fast-paced environment
    • Strong ability to work autonomously, make decisions to move work forward and lead with and without authority
    • Promote a culture of learning, development, and continual self-improvement throughout the organization

    Physical/Mental Demands

    • Travel potential up to 25% depending on organizational needs.
