We are currently seeking an Instrumental Design Manager to join our partner’s client and lead the design, development, assessment, and deployment of competency-based learning programs. As the Instructional Design Manager, you will manage multiple work streams and oversee a team of instructional designers, content developers, contractors, and vendors. Your primary responsibility will be to conduct needs assessments and gap analyses to identify development requirements, ensuring that learning initiatives align with business and employee development needs. Additionally, you will evaluate participant and course performance, making necessary adjustments to enhance program effectiveness. You will continuously analyze and evaluate current learning strategies while staying updated on new trends in training.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the planning and implementation of new training products.
- Define project goals, tasks, and resource requirements.
- Maintain project timelines for content developed using ADDIE and/or AGILE methodologies.
- Ensure projects are completed on time and meet departmental quality standards.
- Collaborate with the instructional design team to create learning objectives, outcomes, and assessments for various training formats.
- Gather technical information and reference materials, including industry standards and codes, for training development.
- Oversee the creation of engaging training content using instructional design best practices.
- Review and edit content written by others and provide suggestions for improvement.
- Collaborate with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to create, develop, and revise education and training materials.
- Manage 3rd party contracts for instructional content development.
- Communicate clear expectations to contractors and ensure deliverables are completed on schedule and meet quality expectations.
- Provide mentoring, coaching, and direction to team members.
- Identify training opportunities to keep the instructional design team up to date with the newest trends in education development.
- Gather feedback from team members and refine processes to maximize productivity and quality of work.
- Improve content and delivery based on end-user feedback.
- Ensure compliance with all new and updated course content standards.
- Ensure educational materials adhere to design standards and comply with applicable codes and governing documents.

Required Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Curriculum Design & Instruction, Writing, Education, or related field.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in technical writing and/or instructional design.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in team leadership.
- Experience with web design (e.g., HTML, Java, CSS) preferred.
- Experience with Learning Management System (LMS) administration preferred.
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Ability to coordinate multiple projects and produce high-quality work within deadlines.
- Excellent project management skills.
- Ability to develop creative solutions that address business needs.
- Ability to build effective relationships and establish trust, respect, and confidence.
- Excellent writing and editing skills with attention to detail.
- Strong understanding of adult learning theories, instructional design best practices, and eLearning.
- High technical aptitude to convey complex technical concepts through multimedia.
- Ability to work well in a collaborative environment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Articulate 360 (Storyline, Presenter, Quizmaker, Rise), and Adobe (Acrobat, Captivate) product suites.
Preferred Knowledge and Skills:
- Proficiency with digital layout and design tools (e.g., Adobe InDesign).
- Proficiency with multimedia creation/editing software (e.g., Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere, Final Cut Pro, Audacity).
- Working knowledge of the welding industry or related
