Position Summary: The Director, Learning and Development (L&D) will play an integral role in developing and executing the enterprise-wide goals of Learning and Development and aligning employee goals and performance with that of the organization. The Director, L&D will be responsible for assessing organizational training needs and capability gaps and designing and delivering training programs that leverage best-in-class solutions to create sustained learning and engagement. This role will own the organizational-wide talent management lifecycle and processes including goal setting, performance management, succession planning, talent reviews and career pathing to build internal capabilities. The Director, L&D will have a successful track record of building and executing training and talent programs that drive a high-performance culture.
Responsibilities:
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Directs organizational training needs across the talent life-cycle: onboarding, mentoring, individual contributor, new leader development, leader and executive development, high-potential talent development, succession and engagement.
- Develops and evolves a best-in-class learning portfolio that aligns with business priorities ensuring that all aspects of development and delivery are high impact and meets the needs of a diverse range of users (hourly, salaried, clinical, technical etc.).
- Provides leadership and management of learning and development priorities along with a vision for near and long-term value creation for Athletico.
- Designs innovative learning and development programs to strengthen individual and organizational skills and competencies that drive a culture of continuous learning and performance improvement.
- Directs the creation of content and learning programs that are engaging, effective and facilitate organizational capability growth and sustainability.
- Oversees the design and deliver training content and courses in a variety of learning formats, including: instructor led, virtual instructor led, train the trainer, e-learning, and other considerations to support a variety of learning styles and preferences.
- Conduct organizational needs assessments to identify and evaluate opportunities to evolve and scale learning framework including optimizing learning management systems and solutions and addressing training gaps that enhances employee / user experience and training effectiveness.
- Monitor and measure training effectiveness: training tools, systems, vendor partnerships and overall program offerings.
- Proactively stays abreast of the latest market offerings, trends, innovation, training solutions and partners to evaluate opportunities to implement them within the organization.
- Develop, scale, and maintain a competency framework that outlines how roles/role families relate to the business, its goals, and success.
- Partner with Internal Communications team to implement communication strategies that raise awareness and promote learning and development opportunities.
- Partner with HR Business Partner team to meet specific professional or functional needs including creating a framework for career pathing for key job groups and implementing meaningful solutions to activate the internal talent marketplace.
- Establishes enterprise-wide metrics/KPIs for the employee performance experience and develops a reporting cadence and delivery to Executive Leadership.

- Education:
- 8 – 10 years’ experience designing and leading L&D programs at scale and creating learning and development strategic plans.
- Graduate degree in Education, Organizational Development, or Organizational Behavior, with related technology experience in Instructional Design Technology.
- Work Experience:
- Proven experience with curriculum development and delivery methodologies and best practices.
- Track record of innovation and program-building within an evolving environment including onboarding, mentoring, coaching, individual contributor, new manager, leadership development, and high-potential development programs.
- Strong management and leadership capabilities.
- Strong track record of building programs from scratch
- Certification/Licensure:
- Change management and/or HR certifications (e.g., SHRM) preferred
- DiSC Certificaton preferred
- Knowledge and Technical Skills:
- Must have strong knowledge of adult learning principles to support team and individual coaching and development.
- In-depth understanding of best practices in learning strategy development and execution in employee engagement on multiple platforms and media.
- Successful track record designing and deploying blended learning, multi-generational adult learning theory and practices and training and development programs.
- Experience developing instructional materials (instructor-led course materials, eLearning, content / job aid, tools, solutions, etc.)
- Outstanding analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills.
- Excellent communication, facilitation and engagement skills.
- Experience with learning management systems and eLearning development tools – from selection to implementation.
- Strong consultative skills and ability to make persuasive recommendations based on business rationale.
- Data driven with an analytical mind-set and the ability to incorporate data into learning initiatives and programs and draw insights to make meaningful business recommendations.
- Ability to prioritize initiatives based on the evolving needs of the company, consistently making strategic recommendations to company leadership.
- Ability to work in and manage ambiguity, including dealing effectively with issues that do not always have a process, system, or solution in place.
- Well versed in change management theory and practices.
- Prior success analyzing organizational needs, setting and managing expectations.
- Demonstrated ability to create and lead the implementation of strategic, creative and fiscally sound programs that drive business results and improvement
- Agile, high-energy, high-integrity, self-starter with exceptional process, planning and detail orientation.
- Strong business and financial acumen and relationship building with internal stakeholders and external partners.
- Results-driven, collaborative and curious leader with excellent coaching, teaching and mentoring skills.
- Language Skills:
