Summary
The Instructional Designer will help design, develop, and implement cutting-edge development programs that build competence and confidence within Freeman. They will be part of a team that develops training assets that range from classroom, virtual, self-paced digital learning based on the learners need. This includes understanding training needs or using high level design, creating, or utilizing prototypes to implement larger solutions, and developing content using prescribed tools. As a team member you will design and develop a final learning output product for targeted employees within the prescribed standards of quality, timeline, and effort, reporting to the Director of Training.
This position is eligible to work remote supporting our Corporate Functions – Learning and Development team.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Design, project manage, and maintain eLearning experiences for required training, consistent with adult learning theory.
- Recommend and designs innovative eLearning modules, according to the need, in multiple modalities such as videos, stand-alone online courses, and mobile device apps.
- Ensure courses are produced to align with program guidelines to keep training direct and relevant for learners.
- Engage and collaborate with stakeholders throughout the development process, ensuring a positive impact with the stakeholders.
- Synthesizes complex content in ways that are understandable, practical, and applicable.
- Knowledge of current trends including micro-learning, predictive/adaptive and blended learning techniques.
- Review deliverables for completeness, compliance with standards, and consistency with the detailed design prior to sending for review.
- Translate complex subject matter into easy-to-understand, engaging eLearning modules.
- Develop skills and areas of expertise, and conduct research on learning trends to develop new and innovative instructional approaches.
- Participate actively in team and project meetings and other forums.
- Demonstrate critical thinking and decision making at the workplace to determine solutions for business problems.
Education & Experience
- Minimum 5 years of experience of HTML5 based authoring tools (including Articulate Storyline, Rise, Captivate and Vyond {previously GoAnimate}, PowToon), virtual collaboration tools and enterprise LMS systems
- Broad knowledge of adult learning principles, practices, and procedures
- Extensive knowledge of ADDIE course design
- Knowledge of, and experience within, industry-proven and trending learning and development disciplines, processes, approaches, and technologies
- Familiarity with graphic design, video editing, image manipulation, and formatting is a plus
- Adaptive to changing technologies, process, and environments
- Demonstrated experience creating curriculum strategies and training plans including analyzing, building, and assessing curricula for asynchronous and synchronous classroom-based or virtual learning environments
- Ability to work efficiently under deadlines in fast-paced environment with numerous projects
- Experience acting in lead roles for large/complex programs and interacting with executive-level stakeholders
- Is highly collaborative and resourceful – works effectively with diverse colleagues and peers to deliver business results
- Agile and flexible to pivot across projects and working styles to accomplish results that fit project need
- Strong technical writing and communication skills
- Must be comfortable working as part of a team and independently
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, Training, Human Resources, Organizational Development, or a related field is preferred. High School Diploma or Equivalent with relevant professional experience is required.
