Job Description
The Instructional Design and Technology Sr. Specialist I is responsible for the design and development of content for the LMS (Learning Management System) and related technologies to drive efficient and effective learning and help maximize employee and business performance. Through the implementation of best practices and design standards for effective and engaging multimedia learning, optimizes knowledge transfer and the learner’s experience with the LMS and related learning technologies. This role engages in a complex level of design, along with integrated curriculum learning. Partners with vendors and external support resources for development and design projects. Consults with internal clients and analyzes training and performance needs, collaborating to select and execute learning solutions in accordance with Olympus policies, procedures, and standard practices. Develops processes, procedures, and tools to support efficient content production. Manages the governance of related software for all Olympus users, including licenses, instructional support, troubleshooting, and investigation of new software. Required to work with global partners and developers. Must manage multiple complex projects that could include multiple translations. Knowledge of course and LMS interaction a must.
Job Duties
- Create, develop, design, and deliver eLearning content using supported applications (such as Articulate Storyline, Camtasia, Powtoon etc.)
- Upload, test, revise, and assign content as required in the LMS staging and production environments, including deployment of SCORM 1.2, AICC, and other relevant content or package types.
- Help support and drive engagement in the Content Developer’s CoP as a means to create consistent, global best practices.
- Manage content software distribution, act as key point of contact for all Olympus developers, instruct and troubleshoot where applicable with developers or content owners.
- Support management of projects with multiple courses in curriculums using process tools.
- Under direction of Project Manager, Content & Design, create, implement, and update best practices/standards, work processes, style guides, templates, and controls to ensure the creation of effective and engaging content that is compatible with all Olympus devices and regions.
- Analyze and resolve content, and process issues in collaboration with rest of Learning Technologies or through content related service tickets.
- Take on other job functions and responsibilities as necessary to support the learner, the business, and the Learning Technologies missions.
Job Requirements
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum bachelor’s degree in information technology or Instructional Technology, or related Business field is required. Master’s degree is preferred.
- Must have 8 or more years’ experience developing instructional design content, exposure to learning management systems, or working in a corporate learning organization.
- Must be able to travel – occasional national/international travel with overnight stays may be required (<10%).
PREFFERED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Manage a full workload of competing priorities and on a global scale.
- Must possess ability to manage, create, and revise information through SharePoint, Excel, Articulate Storyline and/or other software tools. Advanced MS Office skills required.
- Ability to manage software applications for a large group of users and maintain vendor relationship.
- Knowledge of Learning Record or Management Systems is essential.
- Demonstrated expert understanding of adult learning principles, instructional design, and development.
- Ability to apply critical thinking skills to solve problems, develop content, and troubleshoot technical issues.
