Your Mission:

The Manager, Learning Solutions Design leads a team of Learning Solutions Designers in developing Medidata product education courses, certifications, and associated learning materials consumed by Medidata customers, partners, and colleagues. The Manager will drive the planning, design, development, implementation, delivery, maintenance, and innovation of core learning curricula, eLearning catalog, ILT content, persona and learning path development, learning videos, and learning programs focused on topics related to Medidata products as well as the Clinical Industry. Medidata’s product education portfolio catalyzes the value that Medidata products create for customers, partners, and colleagues. This portfolio includes eLearning, focused on building core, persona-based proficiency; instructor-led content, focused on building advanced proficiency and applied skills; best practice courseware, to drive post-learning success; and certifications, designed to demonstrate specified mastery levels for Medidata products.

This position has responsibilities that extend globally to all of Medidata’s locations. This is a highly strategic and collaborative role in which the Manager, Learning Solutions Design will consult with key stakeholders across the organization to identify customer education and enablement needs, make solution recommendations, and drive education program execution. These education programs will focus on the knowledge and skills that customers, partners, and colleagues across the Medidata Solutions ecosystem need in order to successfully build the Medidata product proficiency and applied skills necessary to effectively complete their daily tasks. The qualified candidate who fills this position must be an advocate for enabling success through learning and development; a proactive partner to peers, colleagues, and SMEs; a motivating team leader- detail-oriented, organized, and concise. The Manager must be able to lead and empower a team, but also excel independently, and demonstrate the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines while consistently delivering high productivity and quality work.

About Medidata Global Education: Medidata Global Education is the functional group within Customer Solutions that focuses on Medidata product enablement, as well as clinical industry training, for customers, partners, and colleagues.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage the on-time and quality correct delivery of your team’s scope of deliverables, including successful fulfillment of activities involved in the planning, design, development, implementation, delivery, maintenance, and innovation of training and development programs used by Medidata customers, partners, and employees.
  • Manage the documentation of processes, workflows, and best practices in accordance with company standards.
  • Join in partnership with other education, enablement, and training professionals to deliver effective core and integrated education materials that support all training initiatives aligned with organizational strategies and objectives.
  • Develop core framework components and learner personas requirements for education and training curricula, courses, learning content, and associated materials through close partnership with peers, colleagues, and company SMEs. On a continuous learning basis, integrate voice-of-the-customer (VOC) feedback into requirements and outcomes.
  • Learn and maintain the Medidata product knowledge required to develop impactful education and training materials used by Medidata customers, partners, and employees. As required, author and produce course materials.
  • Fulfill assignments in the form of objectives with goals and the process by which to meet goals.
  • For your team, manage leadership development, succession planning, career management, interpersonal skills, and communication training. Select, develop, evaluate, and enable staff outcomes to ensure the efficient operation of the function.
  • Develop and/or approve content, methods, and materials for training staff. Develop methods for evaluation for program effectiveness.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to staff according to established policies and management directives. Administer company policies that directly affect subordinate employees.
  • Recommend changes to unit or sub-unit policies.
  • Coordinate and support agile global education practices and a standard cadence of management review of work to measure/ensure quality, output, and impact of targeted objectives.
  • Proactively monitor operational processes, and identify/assess issues using associated data to quickly develop and execute solutions.
  • Exercise judgment within defined procedures and policies to determine appropriate action and avoid erroneous decisions or failure to achieve results that can diminish the quality of deliverables or cause delays in targeted delivery.
  • Establish strong partnerships and interactions with management, functional peer leads, subordinate supervisors, company SMEs, and other stakeholders. Gain the cooperation of others as needed.
  • Develop and conduct workstreams, working teams, and work groups to enable the successful delivery of targeted outcomes.
  • Develop and execute real-time status reporting and presentations, including technical information, regarding scope of work, specific projects, or schedules.
  • Provide direct supervision to professional individual contributors and/or skilled, support individual contributors (e.g., technicians, designers, support personnel).
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to manager and CSS unit/sub-units; contribute, as required, to meet targets, innovate, and resolve issues.

Your Competencies:

  • Exceptional manager, leader, and role model for a team of Instructional Designers (3-4)
  • Excellent knowledge of learning theories and instructional design models, information mapping, persona development, learning path development
  • Skills and expertise in technical lesson and curriculum planning, video learning and development, eLearning and ILT course content development
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to learn and understand software products and write structured course content in a consistent fashion, using content models and adhering to established governance models
  • Proficient in Instructional Design, SCORM, Articulate Storyline 2, Confluence, Google Workspace (G Suite), PhotoShop, Camtasia
  • Excellent partnership, peer-peer collaboration, and organizational/time management skills
  • Self-motivated, able to assume responsibility and work autonomously in a professional manner
  • Ability to understand and communicate concepts quickly and accurately
  • Experience with International English, JIRA/Confluence agile practices, and localization readiness is preferred
  • This role is positioned out of our New York office; requires the ability to travel between the two East coast offices as needed (NYC and Iselin, NJ) .
  • Experience working with Agile Software development teams
  • Must be able to work within tight deadlines in a fast-paced, software development environment
  • SaaS experience, and knowledge of Gauge platforms and Thought Industries LMS, is a plus

Your Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree required; or equivalent years of experience
  • Master’s Degree preferred (Instructional Design, eLearning Technology, Learning Theory, etc).
  • 2-3 years experience in the strategic leadership and successful management of a global, technical instructional design team – with content development scope covering eLearning, ILT, video-based training, and certifications
  • Minimum 3 years experience in a global, technical Instructional Designer role with relevant curricula/courseware development experience
  • Leadership and expertise in agile content management practices and experience working on an agile software development team
  • Clinical content development experience preferred

The salary range posted below refers only to positions that will be physically based in New York City. As with all roles, Medidata sets ranges based on a number of factors including function, level, candidate expertise and experience, and geographic location. Pay ranges for candidates in locations other than New York City, may differ based on the local market data in that region. The base salary pay range for this position is $114,750 to $153,000.

Base pay is one part of the Total Rewards that Medidata provides to compensate and recognize employees for their work. Most sales positions are eligible for a commission under the terms of applicable plan documents, while many of Medidata’s non-sales positions are eligible for annual bonuses.
