The individual in this position reports to the Director of Online Learning, within Academic Affairs. This position coordinates and administers the technical aspects of the learning management system (LMS), D2L Brightspace, as well as providing customer support for LMS questions from faculty, students, and staff. In addition, this position creates and maintains the LTR webpages and drives. Work is usually performed under some to minimal supervision with wide latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgement. This position requires strong technical, communication, and organizational skills, along with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic team environment.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities

 

Essential Functions:

  • Primarily responsible for and coordinates all areas of the LMS.
  • Investigates and problem-solves issues with the LMS.
  • Serves as the advisor for the LMS, and provide exceptional customer service to faculty, staff, students, and external partners.
  • The Systems Administrator, LMS is the first point-of-contact as the D2L “Administrator” – to report issues, determine solutions, and schedule maintenance.
  • Collaborates and facilitates information to the Information Management Team (IMT) on the LMS technology support, network support, and security.
  • Responsible for testing and maintenance of the test-instance and live-instance of the LMS (e.g., monthly D2L updates).
  • Creates third-party integrations; conduct annual reviews and make recommendations to the Director of Online Learning.
  • Implements new learning technologies within the LMS; monitor current ones; make recommendations to the Director of Online Learning.
  • Collect data on learning technologies and third-party products used in the LMS for reporting purposes.
  • Manages the LMS contracts and vendor contracts and subscriptions.
  • Schedule and develop training and support materials specific to the needs of faculty, staff, and students utilizing a variety of delivery methods to teach these workshops.
  • Advises faculty, staff, and students on LMS questions. Work as the back-up for the Instructional Technology Assistant’s “Help” desk line.

Additional Duties:

  • Performs other related work as required.

 

Minimum Education and Training

 

  • Education – Bachelor’s degree required within the area of computer/technology, such as internet technology, information systems, or computer science. *An Associate’s degree may be considered with two-years of LMS administrative experience or multiple certifications.
  • Preferred – Experience working with a Learning Management System, preferably D2L Brightspace.
  • Preferred – Two years of experience with web programming, web design, and HTML.
  • Preferred – Working knowledge of Adobe eLearning tools and Microsoft Office products.
  • Preferred – A+ Certification

 

Minimum Qualifications and Standards Required

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Project management including management of multiple simultaneous tasks, with the ability to work independently, as well as successful collaboration in groups/teams.
  • Demonstrated successful collaboration with faculty and content experts.
  • Strong and comprehensive oral, written, and interpersonal skills and the ability to deal effectively with multiple constituencies.
  • This position must be able to use conflict resolution techniques when working with difficult issues.
  • Structured and organized thinker who executes well, with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic “team” environment.

Physical Requirements:

The work is sedentary work which requires exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly.
