UC Davis Learning and Development (L&D) in Human Resources is responsible for providing effective and efficient employee learning and development activities (e.g., instructor-led courses, virtual courses, e-learning, cohort programs, certificate programs, career development, compliance training, and systemwide programs) for both the UC Davis campus and UC Davis Health. This position serves as an integral member of the UC Davis Health L&D team and functions in concert with other team members’ activities.

Responsibilities
Under general direction of the Learning and Development manager, this position oversees eLearning development and learning management support for UC Davis Health Learning and Development, Human Resources. The incumbent works directly with subject matter experts, functional users, and / or technical staff to assess, translate, and synthesize content and ideas into robust design concepts driving development of interactive learning activities and related aids that achieve behavioral, performance, and learning objectives. Individual applies technical sophistication in the identification, application, and exploitation of tools, methodologies, and creative processes to optimize communication, audience engagement, learning outcomes, and behavioral metrics.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training
- Advanced technical skills related to learning management systems, multimedia design, assessment systems, communication tools, streaming media platforms, and multimedia application. Experience integrating multimedia into web-based courses
- Advanced use of eLearning development software and SCORM-compliant content development tools (e.g., Presenter, Articulate, Dreamweaver, Photoshop, Captivate, HTML CSS) and digital video, graphics, and audio editing software (e.g., Premier, Final Cut, Photoshop)
- Demonstrated experience using instructional technology for design and development of online courses and course assets, including producing complex online courses with enterprise-wide delivery
- Advanced knowledge of cognitive and adult learning theories, and instructional design frameworks (LX design, backwards design, ADDIE, Kirkpatrick Model, etc.)
- Experience incorporating ADA design and development standards for web-based delivery into online course content development. Familiarity with the concept of universal design
- Proficiency in graphic design, layout and adherence to style guides
- Skills and experience to influence others and move toward a common vision or goal
- Acute business acumen and understanding of organizational issues and challenges
- Familiarity with project management approaches, tools and phases of the project lifecycle
- Experience working with non-training individuals to prepare them to conduct and/or produce training content
- Demonstrated success training adult learners through a variety of methods (e.g., instructor-led, seminars, workshops, webinars, and eLearning)
- Advanced oral, written, presentation and facilitation skills; ability to clearly articulate messages to a variety of audiences
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Training and Development, Education, Instructional Design, or related area, or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Advanced knowledge of organization policies and procedures, including policies that impact online course development.
- Knowledge of the SumTotal Learning Management System.
- Advanced skills to write valid test questions for a SCORM compliant, web-based LMS.
