We are looking for a successful training specialist to design, evaluate, and deliver a range of responsive educational curricula and training programs. This learning champion should be focused on clearly and succinctly conveying learning content in a manner that engages learners and improves learning retention rates while continuously evaluating the effectiveness of learning strategies and materials.

As an instructional designer and training facilitator, you will be responsible for creating effective and engaging instructional materials, specifically crafted to produce desired learning outcomes. You will be consulting with various departments and designing the optimum training experience that meets their requirements. You will be responsible for facilitating training sessions both virtually and in person. This position is part of the Mission Excellence team within the Employee Solutions and Service Delivery organization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and develop engaging learning experiences including web-based training programs, storyboards, job aids and in person/virtual training to fulfill organization’s specific needs to develop and enhance skillsets including preparing employees for more responsible positions and increasing effectiveness in present assignments
  • Partner directly with subject matter experts to design and develop engaging content for a variety of audiences and delivery modes (online, webinar, etc.) with clear strategies and tactics to achieve desired learning outcomes
  • Develop assessment and knowledge check elements that accurately measure learning
  • Conduct engaging training classes creating a positive learning environment both in-person and virtually
  • In collaboration with team members, maintain and revise existing learning products, keep content absorbable to the audience, learning modality, and keep other learning considerations in mind while always looking for the most effective way to achieve the desired learning objectives
  • Employ a variety of different interactive learning strategies, such as gamification and scenario-based activities to motivate learning
  • Collect, analyze, and interpret metrics to determine program effectiveness through assessments, surveys, and feedback
  • Keep up to date with current trends in Leaning and Development to ensure we are taking advantage of the most up-to-date technologies and techniques

Minimum Qualifications

  • Demonstrated instructional design experience developing eLearning lessons using Captivate or Articulate Storyline
  • Strong writing and editing capabilities
  • Experience in visual design- instructional graphics
  • Strong training facilitation skills engaging training audiences both in person and virtually
  • Demonstrated experience in creating technical and soft skills training in a variety of applications such as computer-based training, facilitator-led training, blended learning, self-study, and job aids
  • Able to provide an eLearning portfolio or demonstrate ability to create high-quality eLearning products

Basic Qualifications for Level 2:

  • Bachelor’s degree with 3 years minimum of demonstrated instructional design experience in a Learning and Development role, developing and delivering training programs OR Master’s degree and 1 year minimum of demonstrated experience in a Learning and Development role, developing and delivering training programs

Basic Qualifications for Level 3:

  • Bachelor’s degree with 6 years minimum of demonstrated experience in a Learning and Development role, developing and delivering training programs OR Master’s degree with 4 years minimum of demonstrated experience in a Learning and Development role, developing and delivering training programs

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in developing instructional curricula for service centers and large companies
  • Familiar with Global Learning Management Systems and service center environments
  • Familiar with Agile tools and methodology
  • Certified Associate Professional in Talent Development

Salary Range: $67,000 USD – $100,400 USD

Salary Range 2: $82,400 USD – $123,600 USD
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
