The Instructional Designer – Epic Medical Education is responsible for working with internal and external contacts to develop effective training solutions for physicians and other medical end-users in use of the Epic Electronic Medical Record.
This role will have a strong focus on developing synchronous and asynchronous eLearning programs, and developing systems to improve training efficiency and effectiveness across the training team.
This is a full time, benefits eligible position primarily work from home with occasional days in office at our main campus.

Responsibilities:
Responsibilities
- Collaborates with customers to conduct task analysis and/or needs assessment to identify learning objectives, and to determine appropriate training solutions.
- Apply knowledge of adult learning theory to identify appropriate training media and methodologies.
- Ensure trainers are knowledgeable of the current information on adult learning theory, methodologies, training tools and media.
- Research, select and modify existing training systems, curriculum, content and materials to meet learning needs.
- Develops tools and processes to measure effectiveness of curriculum solutions and learner performance to ensure solutions meet requirements.
- Collaborate with customers to validate that curriculum solutions meet agreed upon outcomes.
- Research and recommend training, training materials and documentation standards based on current best practices.
- Develop training courses in various mediums based upon need. Mediums may include Classroom, eLearning, Video, Individualized and coaching.
- Develop assessments, tools and methods to ensure training is meeting established goals.
- Reviews program evaluations, test results, and participant and manager feedback on training effectiveness to make recommendations for program improvement.
- Review developed curriculum and materials for adherence to training guidelines and adult learning methodology.
- Provide Train the Trainer classes and classroom support as needed.
- Research, evaluate and recommend educational technologies, activities and techniques to improve training efficiency and effectiveness.
- Management of documentation systems. i.e. SharePoint, Learning Management Systems.
- Management of educational media such as eLearning, video, and instructional materials.
Qualifications:
KNOWLEDGE , SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED
- Master’s degree or equivalent experience in Instructional Design.
- 3-5 years of experience in adult learning. Healthcare, EHR, or Epic experience preferred, but not required.
- Exceptional interpersonal, presentation, and communication skills required to interact effectively with all hospital staff, medical staff, and external contacts (i.e. vendors).
- Extensive knowledge of at least one eLearning tool such as Captivate or Articulate.
- Ability to communicate information service concepts to a broad range of technical and non- technical staff. Strong written, verbal, and listening skills are required with the ability to present effectively to small and large audiences.
- Strong sense of individual accountability while being an excellent team player.
- Ability to modify work schedules and practices to meet job requirements.
MINIMUM PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Note frequency as Constantly (67-100%), Frequently (34-66%) and Occasionally (0-33%) for each requirement. Also note any lifting requirements with pound limit.
