Position Summary:
The Instructional Designer is responsible for designing and developing engaging, innovative, relevant and impactful learning programs. Learning materials will be designed for classroom, virtual, and e-Learning delivery. Programs should incorporate adult learning principles and reflect approaches that are appropriate to the audience. This position creates learning materials for firm employees and will update and maintain them as needed.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- In conjunction with leadership and Learning Specialists, conducts needs analysis, task analysis, audience analysis and focus groups to determine learning objectives and the appropriate instructional strategies and delivery methods for training requests
- Collaborates with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) or internal team members to design, develop, and implement learning solutions that ensure mastery of learning objectives and learner retention
- Outlines and creates evaluation and assessment strategies for learning solutions to include surveys, testing and other measurement strategies
- Creates a variety of learning materials to include eLearning courses, demonstrations, simulations, videos, scenarios, case studies, exercises, workbooks, instructor and participant guides, PowerPoint decks, scripts, quick references, job aids, and knowledge checks
- Creates storyboards for e-Learning courses to include scripts, scenarios, visuals and interactive elements used to engage and enhance the learner experience
- Develops e-Learning courses using Articulate Rise, Adobe Captivate, Storyline and similar tools, and develops videos using Camtasia
- Establishes, influences, and communicates guidelines and recommendations for processes and procedures related to instructional design, content development, and project management
- Supports Learning Specialists in the creation and delivery of training courses to include providing guidance on learning objectives and engagement ideas for virtual delivery
- Provides feedback and recommendations on presentations to improve instructional delivery
- Creates and maintains virtual and e-Learning course templates to be used by the Learning and Development Team
- Ensures that all educational materials adhere to design standards
- Works and consults with vendors to provide recommendations on how to customize e-Learning to meet GT’s needs to include providing templates and reviewing content against GT standards as needed
- Stays abreast of new instructional design training technologies and products, and advises management of them for potential adoption
- Ensures that all final videos, e-Learning and documents are provided to the Learning Systems and Operations Coordinator and Specialist for loading and testing prior to distribution by the Professional Development Team
- Collects, consolidates and revises eLearning module feedback prior to releasing
- Supports the Learning Systems and Operations Coordinator and Specialists with Learning Management System related issues and questions related to videos and e-Learning files
- Prepares reports, perform administrative and other assigned duties as required
Skills & Competencies:
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills (oral and written), and professional demeanor
- Skilled in gathering information and insights by interviewing groups and/or individuals
- Candidate must be a self-starter who can work independently in setting agendas, schedules and deadlines
- Excellent presentation skills to engage diverse audiences a plus
- Position also requires the ability to work under pressure to meet strict deadlines, effectively prioritize multiple tasks
Qualifications & Prior Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Training, Human Resources, or other related field or equivalent in education and experience. Master’s Degree in instructional design, education, or related field preferred
- Minimum 5-7 years experience as an Instructional Designer/Developer in a corporate or consulting environment
- Experience within the professional services industry with resultant knowledge of organizational behavior, adult learning principles, training and development techniques
- Previous legal industry experience a plus
- Ability to use MS Office applications such as Word, Excel and outlook with advanced design skills in PowerPoint
- Knowledge of eLearning authoring tools such as Captivate, Camtasia, Rise, Storyline etc.
- Knowledge of LMS and SCORM settings
- Knowledge of virtual training tools such as Zoom, GoTo and familiarity with features used to engage learners
- Web design experience a plus
