The Learning Technology Specialist is a key role on the Learning Technology Team. The Specialist has in depth knowledge of the Learning Management System (LMS) configuration and capabilities and uses this knowledge to consult with department leaders and educators in setting up learning activities. The Specialist provides day-to-day learner support for end users and manages a ticketing queue.
The person in this role is expected to track trends and work collaboratively toward continuous improvement and innovation. Other responsibilities include report configuration, content uploading and training development for general materials, quick reference guides, and eLearning. The specialist works in partnership with the team to provide formal learning opportunities for educators wishing take full advantage of system capabilities and may facilitate events related to learning technology.
This is a remote role with expectation to work onsite when needed.
Responsibilities:
- Assists with the technical and functional administration of the day-to-day operation, maintenance, usage, and analysis of learning management systems and experience platforms
- Identifies internal LMS challenges and recommends improvements to products, processes or services
- Assists with multiple projects related to learning technology and collaborates with stakeholders to accomplish project goals and objectives. May, on occasion, facilitate learning events related to learning technology
- Applies an understanding of all components, features and functions of the LMS to help business units leverage learning technology to help solve business problems. Explains complex technology in an easily understood manner
- Identifies and report on trends related to technical support issues
- Communicates technical LMS concepts to end users and LMS administrators
- Works with staff of all levels in a productive and constructive manner and maintains professional relationships
- Develops training collateral such as eLearning, PowerPoint slide decks, tool kits, study guides, and performance support materials, as needed
- Converts PowerPoint or Word-based materials from clients into eLearning, working with Subject Matter Experts to better understand the requirements
- Utilizes reporting systems to run regular statistical management reports from the LMS. Develops ad hoc and specialized reports as required
- Maintains data integrity rules and processes for the Learning Management System (LMS}, such as course descriptions, course or class changes, instructors and curriculum
- Updates and improve one’s knowledge and skills pertaining to the LMS, learning technology and related fields
WORK EXPERIENCE
- At least 3 years Demonstrated customer service experience including communicating technical processes Required (5+ years preferred)
- At least 2 years Experience working with a Learning Management System Preferred
- At least 2 years Technical Writing experience including writing processes, procedures, and other support material Preferred
- At least 2 years Experience developing eLearning content Preferred
EDUCATION
- Four-year Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience Required
