    The HR Instructional Designer is responsible for designing training materials for learning and development content for the College. The HR Instructional Designer is responsible for creating effective training courses and programs and will work collaboratively with key stakeholders and the Organizational Development and People Analytics team to develop learning through various design methods. Learning solutions that will be designed include full curricula, instructor led workshops, eLearning, virtual led workshops, job aids, videos, podcasts, etc. Specific duties this role performs include content creation and design of online training courses; the content creation and design of instructional materials for training modules; participant materials; building multiple courses in a learning management system; and Curator role in the LinkedIn Learning platform.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

    Instructional Content Design
    1) Manage various design scope around interpreted or specific requirements to create and/or modify training content appropriately. Source training content through own research, stake holders, subject matter experts (SME), and Human Resources personnel. Facilitate process through conversations, focus groups, compression planning sessions and/or independent research. Design and develop on-demand eLearning training content to be hosted on our LMS.

    2) Determine and outline learning objectives and outcomes in partnership with stakeholders. Work with key customers and SME to design training material to achieve critical objectives of the College. Design training materials around all learning styles while incorporating the cultural tone of the College. Recommend and/or designs learning aids to accompany the education and training content.

    3) Utilize innovation in content creation enabling the use of learning aids, simulated scenarios, videos, or other identified methods that will provide a blended delivery method and increase the retention of learning. Collaborate with the Sr. Instructional Designer and Supervisor, Talent Development to design training content based on identified delivery method.

    4) Design professional, management and technical training, including virtual training, based on needs identified by the College stakeholders. Design training materials, job aids, and other learning resources to boost the retention of learning. Design pre and post assessments that will verify pre-identified learning outcomes within the training content. Work with identified assessment vendors or licensure bodies as appropriate.

    5) Partner with Sr. Instructional Designer and Human Resources team members to support design needs around projects including new systems, policies and/or procedures, training documentation. Support Human Resources team with internal communication design needs as directed. Ensure communication meets brand standards of the College consulting on content, editing, and distribution of monthly reports, announcements, and urgent communications. Assist Sr. Instructional Designer in supporting the LMS and Organizational Development and People Analytics intranet page. These duties range from loading, deleting, updating and curating materials, consultation with departments regarding organization of both new and existing content.

    Schedule Liaison
    Assist Sr. Instructional Designer on projects associated with vendors as identified for the purposes of content creation or integrating the content into already existing training material, or other knowledge transfer scenarios.

    Collaborate with stakeholders to scope content into determined learning delivery methods. Model exceptional customer service, teamwork, and professionalism in all interactions with the College employees, training participants, associated project vendors and community members.

    Additional Responsibilities

    Attend all required leadership directed meetings and training, including those with external vendors pertaining to training design and delivery needs. Regular, predictable, and punctual attendance is required.

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

    Knowledge of: broad knowledge of delivery modes for training content, design principles for creating training content; general project management principles; customer service principles and practices; design software, including but not limited to: MS Office Suite and Learning Management Systems; eLearning platforms and design; Adobe Creative Suite, including InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Acrobat, and Animate; Articulate 360 and Camtasia.

    Skill in: design of high-quality training content from start to finish; to build content through own research and scope process; excellent verbal and written communication; excellent customer service; conflict resolution; general typing; planning, organizing and self-management; superior critical thinking, problem solving, analysis and synthesis; utilizing Microsoft Office and the Internet.

    Ability to: create effective training content for learners as identified; work creatively, independently, and in a team environment; use good judgement; perform complex tasks and prioritize multiple projects; conduct and utilize research; maintain confidential and sensitive information; demonstrate initiative; maintain effectiveness when experiencing major changes in requested customized training content; manage personal work tasks, schedule, or work environment; adjust positively to work within new work structures, processes, requirements, or cultures; write and speak clearly and effectively using professional etiquette; develop and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues and stakeholders across the College, and associated project vendors; effectively work with persons of varying cultures and diversity; problem solve effectively.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
    Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources Management or related field and three (3) years of experience in Training Curricula and E-Learning design. An appropriate combination of education, training, coursework and experience may qualify a candidate.
