Moodle 4.4 – the latest major version of the Moodle LMS is packed with a lot of exciting new features. One of such is the Ordering Question type which is included in Moodle core through Moodle Users Association funding. If you haven’t yet used the Ordering Question type, let’s see how you can use it in your Moodle quiz.
The Ordering question type was available as one of the most popular question type plugin in the official plugins repository. In the previous project development cycle, MUA committee got it included in the Moodle 4.4 with few minor changes.
The ordering question as the name states can be used to displays several items (words, phrases, images or other media) in a random order which must then be dragged into the correct sequential order.
To add a new ordering question, you can navigate to your course > Question bank > Create a new question and select Ordering. Add the question name and the question text. Then choose whether you want the items to display vertically or horizontally. Make sure to choose the best grading type for your students.
In order to add images to your ordering question, make sure to change the Draggable item format to HTML instead of Moodle Auto format. Once you save your question, it will show the TinyMCE Editor (default text editor).
If you are using Moodle 4.4 version, you shall have the Ordering question type included by default. And, in case you are using older Moodle version, you can download the plugin from the official here.
Overall, it is pretty easy to use the ordering question type to make your Moodle quiz more engaging. What are the other question types you are using on your Moodle site? Please share with us in the comments section below.
